Clinton, IowaClinton, Iowa, has been a major gateway to the Great Plains and beyond since 1859. It featured one of the first railroad crossings over the Mississippi River.

Today, Clinton has two bridges across the mighty Mississippi—the North Bridge, a.k.a. the Mark Morris Memorial Bridge, connecting Fulton, Illinois and Clinton along Highway 136, and the South Bridge, a.k.a. the Gateway Bridge, which connects Iowa and Illinois along U.S. Highway 30.

Clinton offers a family friendly, small-town feel, and it serves as a destination for shopping as well as tourism. Visitors as well as residents enjoy the lifestyle that centers around recreational activities and community events, including boating, kayaking and fishing as well as walking, biking and other sports. The Discovery Trail leads you through the natural scenery of the river from Clinton to Camanche and connects to other trails. Be sure to make it part of your visit!

Clinton Marina511 Riverview Dr, Clinton, IA • (563) 242-3600The Marina has 150 slips from 20 to 50 feet and a 4-lane boat launch. Visiting boaters welcome; advance reservations recommended. The Clinton Marina offers full-service amenities with showers, laundry, gas and diesel, a pump-out station and a boaters’ store.

MyBike Share System & Discovery Bike Trails North end to South end of townTo enjoy Clinton’s 14 miles of continuous bike lanes, bring your helmet and rent a bike by downloading the “KoloniShare” app on your mobile device. Ride your MyBike or walk to soak in the scenery along the river from beautiful Eagle Point Park to Camanche, IA. The Discovery Trail is dedicated to three Clinton County astronauts: Cmdr. Dale A. Gardner (U.S. Navy), Dr. George D. (Pinky) Nelson and Col. David C. Hilmers (U.S. Marine Corps). Lock & Dam 13 (Lake Clinton)4999 Lock Rd, Fulton, IL • (815) 589-3313Thousands of visitors come to view the barges and boats locking through one of the widest pools in the Upper Mississippi River basin. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this is an excellent location to view bald eagles from November to March. You can also get a new perspective on the river from the viewing deck, which is open year round.

Eagle Point Park3923 N 3rd St, Clinton, IA • (563) 243-1260Hundreds of people worked to improve the land once called Joyce’s Park, when the depression struck Clinton in 1933-34. Work Progress Administration funds were given by the Federal

Government to states in order to employee people during the depression. WPA funds went into beautifying Eagle Point Park, including the legendary ‘Thousand Steps’. History also tells of the Fox and Sac Indians worshipping Stone Face, a huge rock overlooking the river from one of the bluffs, holding the natural formation of a man’s face. In the late 1920s the Park Board Commissioner, conceived the idea of a road around the park making a “Serpentine Drive” that it is still used today and takes visitors to see the dog park, stone tower, limestone footbridge, the fountain, magnificent views of one of the widest pools of the Upper Mississippi River, a disc golf course, picnic sites, miles of walking trails, and more.

Mississippi River Eco Tourism Center3942 291 St, Camanche, IA • (563) 259-1876Located at Rock Creek Marina & Campground, this state-of-the-art eco tourism center educates and entertains tourists, while providing an excellent place for schools, clubs and retreats to explore our great Mississippi River heritage. The Mississippi Eco Tourism Center is also a Mississippi River Scenic Byway Interpretive Center.

Blue Heron Eco-Cruises3942 291 St, Camanche, IA • (563) 259-1876The Blue Heron is a 26-passenger pontoon boat that gives cruisers an up-close experience on the Mississippi River. Our guests get to talk, laugh and celebrate nature together. A naturalist conducts tours through backwaters, sloughs and the main channel. Watch for fish, wildlife and birds and learn about the river’s ecological puzzle of hunting, fishing, recreational boating, gravel pits, barge traffic, endangered species and water quality. Reservations recommended.
