1. Overview of Wi-Fi Concierge USB Feature

Your Home gateway comes with two USB 2.0 ports, you can connect different USB external flash drives or USB hard drives to the Home Gateway. With this feature, you and the clients under the same network can access to the connected USB drives for file sharing and storage backup.

P.S. ⚫ You need to provide power to those USB hard drives that require an

external power ⚫ Clients connected to the guest network are unable to access the USB drives ⚫ HKBN will not be responsible to any data loss from your USB devices

2. Feature Specification

2.1. Supported File Systems

⚫ FAT16 ⚫ FAT32 ⚫ NTFS ⚫ ext2 ⚫ ext3 ⚫ ext4 (except journal checksum)

2.2. Supported Disk Space

⚫ FAT16 & FAT32: max. up to 4GB ⚫ Non-FAT file system: no limitation

2.3. System Requirement

⚫ Home Gateway Firmware Version: ◼ v1_20 or above

⚫ Operating System: ◼ Microsoft Windows ◼ Apple Mac OS ◼ iOS for iPhone and iPad ◼ Android OS for Android Smartphone

3. How to Access the External Hard Drive

3.1. Connect Your USB Drives

Insert your USB storage device into the Home Gateway’s USB port directly. The USB software will be installed automatically on the Home Gateway. Wait for several seconds until the USB LED becomes solid green.

3.2. Access Your USB Drives

3.2.1. Microsoft Windows

1. Open “File Explorer” 2. Right click “This PC” 3. Click “Add a network location”

4. Click “Next” to continue

5. Select “Choose a custom network location” 6. Click “Next”

7. Click “Browse…”

8. Select your USB drive under your Home Gateway [ ] 9. Click “OK”

10. Click “Next” to continue

P.S.: ⚫ If your USB drive does not show in the “Browse For Folder”, please check

the followings, ◼ Internet connection of your clients ◼ USB drive connection ◼ External power of the USB drive (if any)

⚫ You can also input the network address under “Internet or network address” ◼ \\HG\ or ◼ \\the.gateway.IP\ (the default gateway IP is 192.168.128.1)

11. You can define a name for this network location shortcut

12. Click “Next” to continue

13. Click “Finish” to complete the action.

3.2.2. Apple Mac OS

1. Open a Finder window 2. Select “Go” 3. Click “Connect to Server”

4. Enter “SMB://HG” under “Server Address” 5. Click “+” to add the server address to the “Favourite Servers” 6. Click “Connect” to continue

P.S.: ⚫ If your USB drive does not show in the “Browse For Folder”, please check

the followings, ◼ Internet connection of your clients ◼ USB drive connection ◼ External power of the USB drive (if any)

⚫ You can also input the network address under “Internet or network address” ◼ \\HG\ or ◼ \\the.gateway.IP\ (the default gateway IP is 192.168.128.1)

7. You have created a shortcut to access your USB drive on your Mac PC.

3.2.3. Mobile Devices – iOS and Android OS

There are many third-party apps for you to access the USB storage drives or external hard drives via your mobile devices – like File Explorer for iOS and Android device.

This chapter describes how to use the third-party app – File Explorer to access the USB devices connected to the Home Gateway.

Disclaimers: ⚫ The following instruction of File Explorer is just an example to show the

ability for managing documents via mobile device. You may choose any other third-party applications to access the USB external drive.

⚫ If you use any third-party application (include File Explorer), HKBN does not warrant or support any service provided by the third-party, and will not be responsible for any act or omission of the third-party.

⚫ The following instruction may not be the latest version, you need to follow the updated instructions provided by the mobile app provider.

⚫ HKBN will not be responsible to any data loss from your USB devices

1. Open the “File Explorer” app on your mobile device, make sure your device has successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network

P.S. The device must be under the same network with your Home Gateway

2. Tap “+” button

3. Select “NAS” or “Windows”

4. All computers and home gateways under the same network will be listed in “Network Neighbourhood”

5. To connect the USB external device, select your home gateway “HG” 6. Select “Registered User” 7. Leave the login information empty and click “OK” 8. You can now access and manage the files in your USB external drive

P.S. Folder name depends on your external hard drive.
