Managed networks are becoming the new normal
• Users demand always-on connectivity at home and in hotels, stadiums, and transportation hubs
• Service providers benefit from providing their own Wi-Fi network because it can better control and differentiate the user experience
• Wi-Fi enables innovation resulting in a thriving ecosystem of both traditional and non-traditional service providers
• Managed networks deliver benefits for users and opportunities for service providers
• Wi-Fi Vantage™ will shepherd a new era of managed networks experiences

Wi-Fi Vantage brings common approach to deliver quality experience in managed networks
• Manageability: Simple tools in Wi-Fi Agile Multiband, Wi-Fi Optimized Connectivity, and Passpoint enable better understanding of network environment, allocation of resources, and provisioning and authentication
• Mobility: Steering and transition mechanisms in Wi-Fi Agile Multiband and Wi-Fi Optimized Connectivity provide more seamless mobility experience when accessing Wi-Fi networks, roaming between different Wi-Fi networks, or transitioning from a Wi-Fi to cellular network.
• Performance: Wi-Fi CERTIFIED ac delivers higher data rates and MU-MIMO for better performance in dense environments
• Combined with enhanced manageability and mobility, Wi-Fi Vantage networks deliver higher performance
• Future releases will support new technologies that extend benefits of Wi-Fi Vantage in managed networks

Wi-Fi Agile Multiband: efficient use of spectrum and network resources
• Based on IEEE 802.11k, 802.11v, 802.11r, 802.11u and Wi-Fi Alliance defined technologies
• Helps devices manage resources and appropriately respond to changing conditions
• Dynamic monitoring: Client and AP exchange information about the Wi-Fi radio environment to evaluate the best possible connection
• Intelligent steering: Mechanisms allow AP to guide client device to recommended band, channel, or AP to balance network traffic or meet other management needs
• Fast transitions: Enables devices to reauthenticate quickly with WPA2™ security when roaming to improve experience with latency sensitive applications (i.e. voice over Wi-Fi)
• Benefits any Wi-Fi network, including home networks with multiple mobile and smart living devices

Wi-Fi Optimized Connectivity: enhanced network connectivity when roaming• Based on IEEE 802.11ai (Fast Initial Link Setup), 802.11k
(Radio Resource Management) and Wi-Fi Alliance defined technologies
• Requires Wi-Fi Agile Multiband as a prerequisite, extends benefits of Wi-Fi Agile Multiband in dense environments
• Optimizes network selection and roaming in Wi-Fi Vantage networks
• Optimized discovery: improved scanning procedures for faster network and AP discovery; metrics that aid in network selection
• Optimized authentication (FILS Authentication): Faster initial authentication and IP layer connectivity by reducing number of exchanges
• Efficient transmissions: reduction in management frames allows devices to spend less time exchanging management information and more time moving data
