For my parents:• music as a ( “high culture” )societal event• formal dress code• expensive “life and stored”• technology (radio) external controlled

For me:•sorting out “the gifted” from “the ignorants”• serious and entertaining music• the deep divide between “E” and “U”• the walkman revolution: user control & personalism• music gave “68”a sound

For my daughter Monika and my son Andreas:

• access to early music education• professional/amateur separation diminishing• music integrated into ...• mp3: ubiquitous music• music as part of every bodies identity• the widening educational institutions “credibility gap”

For our grandson Lars (3/3) and our granddaughter Clara (2 days)

• web 2.0 digital integration native• from entertainment to entertaining communication• music a communication media, similar level as language and picture• actively lived “multimedia”/“multimedia identity• globalised communication culture• digital music literate?

The 7 Challenges:• using “European” music patrimony to manage change proactively• credibility of music education and music educators/stakeholders• inclusive digital music for societal coherence• strengthened non-linguistic and trans-cultural communication• music, values and coherent identities • a new balance music creator –performer –consumer• every citizen a particular “Gesamtkunstwerk” in its own right
