With a 600% increase in the number of
licenses granted by the Environment
Agency since 2008, hydropower
schemes as a means of generating
energy are becoming increasingly
popular. In 2010 there were around 350
licensed hydro schemes operating in
England and Wales and this is
estimated to increase to 1200 by 2020,
so now is the time to get involved.
With the government's 2020 requirement
to produce 15% of energy from a mix of
