The issue of diet is explained in this blog to help you maintain healthy skin and hair. The old school way of thinking was to consume eight 8oz. Glasses of water per day. In recent studies, six glasses are sufficient for maintaining a healthy skin and having great locks. Water is essential to living and when you live in a place like Boca Raton or Southern Florida in general, your H2O is depleted constantly. Get into the habit of bringing bottled water with you when you drive, while working and especially when doing any physical activity. By constantly staying hydrated you’ll notice that your wrinkles are less prominent and your hair and skin grows faster and with more vibrancy.

Stay away from cheeseburgers, pizza, fried fatty foods. This is never and has never been a great thing to eat no matter who you are or what age. Another way to win the war against free radicals and other poisonous elements in making your outer skin, weak, is selecting food high in antioxidants and omega 3’s. Superfoods like blueberries, beets and grapes are high in phytochemicals that also help to fight heart disease and cancer. These are also great for the immune system. Nuts and fish are excellent in helping lower cholesterol, but these sources of minerals and healthy fats are great for promoting excellent skin and will make the hair follicles stronger.

That’s right, don’t be afraid of them because vegetables such as Kale, and broccoli fight disease, are high in things like Vitamin C, E, and A and of course are a great source of calcium that helps promote strong nails. Learn to love these yummy natural farm fresh items. You’ll be glad you did.

Lean more toward foods high in protein and low in carbs. Things like yogurt and salmon can make a huge difference in your daily diet. Carbohydrates like bread and pasta can clog the arteries, but it can also block the promotion of the release of nutrients that are coming from the power foods.

Artificial colors aren’t the only culprit known to be rejected by the body. MSG found in Chinese foods, synthetic trans fats and other ‘nutrition killers’ can make your hair break, cause dry and damaged skin and can link to other diseases like diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

In conclusion, it’s important to point out that starving yourself is just as bad as eating poorly. Your body needs nutrition to stay alive. This is one reason why women who suffer from eating disorders will report a loss of hair. Food is important to our existence and by sustaining a great diet, you will look and feel your absolute best!
