THRILLS, INTRIGUE AND FUN The Cava Escape activity combines all the thrill of an Escape Room with all the fun of a Treasure Hunt. During the activity, you will explore Codorníu’s iconic wine cellars, solving mysteries and facing a variety of challenges to achieve your goal of finding the key to open the Masferrer family chest. In the early 20th century, Estanislau Masferrer worked at Codorníu and was best friends with its owner, Mr. Manuel Raventós i Doménech. Estanislau suspected that someone wanted to steal the family’s jewels, and so decided to hide them in a chest and hand the keys over to his friend. Many years later, Estanislau’s great- granddaughter Remei found the chest, along with some of her great-grandfather’s documents which reveal that Manuel hid the keys in Codorníu’s underground wine cellars, leaving a series of clues for finding them. The Cava Escape activity combines all the thrill of an Escape Room with all the fun of a Treasure Hunt. During the activity, you will explore Codorníu’s iconic wine cellars, solving mysteries and facing a variety of challenges to achieve your goal of finding the key to open the Masferrer family chest.

CODORNÍU: A NAMED LINKED TO THE HISTORY OF CAVA

ADVICE AND INSTRUCTIONS

With over 450 years of history behind it, Codorníu is Spain’s oldest family business and one of the longest-standing companies in the world. Since 1872, when Josep Raventós Fatjó produced cava for the first time in Spain, using the grapes native to the Penedès region, the name “Codorníu” has been linked to the country’s wine-making history.

A Codorníu staff member will accompany you at all times, providing any help that you may need. Participants will be not be locked in at any time, nor will they be monitored using cameras or microphones.

The route of the activity is through dark, damp spaces which, although large, are all underground. If you are claustrophobic, please bear this in mind. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes which are suitable for the circumstances. It is also important to follow these rules:

Do not touch the bottles on green stands or horizontal stacks, or the stands themselves.

Do not try to open doors marked with a red label or sticker.

Materials from the first room should not be taken into the second, except for the map and anything placed in the initial bag. Additional information can be written in the notebook provided.

Do not enter cordoned-off areas.

Do not touch objects marked with yellow and green tape.

Always explore the wine cellars with your group.
