DESCRIPTION

Far more than a Bible class or chapel service squeezed in between other subjects, Christian education takes every course– math, English, social studies, science and all others – and teaches content through the lens of scripture. By doing so, students learn all topics through what is called a Biblical worldview. At Christian Academy, we desire for students to grow in wisdom (discerning mind), stature (physical and emotional maturity) and in favor with God (spiritual relationship) and men (social relations). For students to grow in these areas, we focus on the heart, and developing every child’s heart for God. This means that we must not only teach the character of God’s heart – love, compassion, grace, mercy, kindness, patience, plus others - but we must demonstrate these characteristics ourselves as teachers, staff, administrators, and coaches, as we know students often learn best by behavior that is modeled.

Far more than a Bible class or chapel service squeezed in between other subjects, Christian education takes every course– math, English, social studies, science and all others – and teaches content through the lens of scripture. By doing so, students learn all topics through what is called a biblical worldview.

Christian education works to transform the character of students into Christ-likeness, with the Bible serving as the guiding tool for all instruction.

Christian Education

“Every subject is taught with awareness of God’s power and love. Science shows the wonders of God’s creation; literature is evaluated by biblical standards; music and art are wholesome expressions consistent with God’s principles. Sports are played for God’s glory and coaches remind players that their bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made. Math reflects the dependability of God’s design, and social studies illustrates the failure of a human-centered worldview.” -Still Educating for Eternity by Claude E. Schindler, Jr. and Pacheco Pyle

Why an Christian School is the Best Choice

The 2011 Cardus Education Survey, conducted over two years by five different university research teams, has revealed that Christian schools are the best choice for parents interested in their child’s spiritual growth, academic success, and long-term community involvement.

SpiritualWhen compared with Catholic, public, and private non-religious schools as well as homeschools, ACSI Christian schools… • place the greatest emphasis on student development of moral character and personal virtue. • graduates students who are more likely to pray and read Scripture both alone and with family. • graduates students that are more likely to attend religious services and respect the authority of church leadership.

AcademicStudents who attend an ACSI Christian school meet the challenges of academic rigor and consistently...• read at least one grade level above national averages as measured on national

achievement tests. • receive more required courses in math, science, English, social studies, art, biblical

studies, music and physical education. • attend college at a significantly higher rate than the national average.

CommunityWhen compared with Catholic, public, and private non-religious schools as well as homeschools, ACSI Christian school graduates… • have a stronger sense of direction in their lives than their peers, with more confidence to deal with challenges.• give more of their time to volunteer in their churches and on missions trips.• donate significantly more money to their churches and charitable efforts.

AccreditationAccreditation is the recognition of schools for achieving and maintaining educational excellence and integrity. The designation is awarded by regional and national organizations that set standards for performance and then monitor compliance. All Christian Academy schools, Junior Academy-12th grade, are accredited by AdvancED, the parent organization of the North Central Association (NCA) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

In addition, all Christian Academy K-12 schools are accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The evaluation required to earn this honor includes extensive examination of the spiritual aspects of each component of the organization as well as the educational quality and integrity of the school system. ACSI accreditation further enhances the value of a Christian Academy education. Other Christian schools and colleges recognize it as validation of achieving the high standards required to attain it.

All schools meet the standards of the states in which they reside. CAI is accredited by the State of Indiana and Kentucky schools are certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Kentucky does not accredit schools independently, but certifies schools that are accredited by recognized agencies including ACSI, AdvancED/SACS, or the Kentucky Nonpublic Schools Commission.

At Christian Academy, spiritual development and academic excellence are the driving forces behind every decision we make. We partner with parents and focus on these two areas to ensure we are nurturing and guiding children as they grow in their walk with the Lord, as well as equipping children with an excellent, world-class education so they are well-prepared for life after graduation.

We believe it is important to evaluate student and school academic performance using nationally-normed tests which is why Christian Academy utilizes the Terra Nova testing system (in addition to students taking ACT or SAT tests). This is important because as we prepare our students for college and life after Christian Academy, their performance and preparedness will be evaluated against students from other states on a national level, and perhaps even around the globe.

The curriculum in our schools exceed state requirements. Test results show that Christian Academy students score much higher than state and national averages.

Many parents love the “community school” atmosphere of Rock Creek, with the history of the buildings and roots of the school system adding depth and character to the spiritual and educational experience of this very special campus.

In 2012, Rock Creek was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. With over 100,000 schools in the United States, only one-quarter of 1% of the schools were named National Blue Ribbon Schools. Rock Creek received this prestigious award because standardized test score performance in reading and math were among the best in the nation.

Rock Creek, located in the heart of St. Matthews, serves almost 250 Junior Academy-5th grade students in a nurturing,family-like environment that focuses solely on preschool and elementary students.
