PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE This will be the final newsletter for Term 2. It has been a busy term with great teaching and learning occurring in our classrooms. I would like to commend all of our students for the hard work that they have done throughout the term, as this was clearly evident as I read each student’s report. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the teachers for their dedication and hard work in providing your children with the high quality education they receive. As I mentioned earlier, the staff are currently in the process of finalising Semester One student reports, and anticipate that these will be distributed on Friday 1 July. These reports are a synopsis of the achievements and efforts of each individual student throughout the first half of this year. Having read through each one, I believe that there will be some very proud parents, as well as those who will want to offer encouragement and guidance for Semester Two. A reminder with regards to grades that all students in Years 1-6 are assessed using an A-E scale. Students who receive a ‘C’ grade have been assessed as meeting the appropriate syllabus outcomes appropriate to their year level and are achieving appropriately for their stage. I would encourage any parents or carers who have any concerns about, or require clarification of any aspect of their child’s report, to make an appointment with their child’s teacher. I would like to take the opportunity to recognise and congratulate two groups who have worked hard throughout this term. The first is the Wallacia Public School Dance Group under the guidance of Miss Carroll and Miss Gabor. Newsletter Week 10 Term 2 June 27 2016

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

This will be the final newsletter for Term 2.

Throughout the term, these students have worked hard to learn a dance that we hoped would be accepted to perform later in the year at the Blue Mountains Nepean Dance Festival. I am very happy to announce that the students performed extremely well at the audition, and have been accepted into this year’s festival. Well done, dance group.

The second group are our school’s debating teams. This is the second year that Wallacia Public School has entered the Sydney Debating Challenge. Our teams have performed extremely well under the guidance of Mr Boyd with all debates being judged as very close. I wish both teams well as they continue in the Sydney Debating Challenge this week.

Term Treat Day will occur on Friday 1 July for those students who earned a Principal’s Award during the term (see list overleaf). Congratulations to all of these students who have demonstrated ‘Safe’, ‘Respectful’ and appropriate ‘Learning’ behaviours consistently throughout the term.

Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of our families and students a safe and restful Winter break. School will resume on Tuesday 18 July.

Just a reminder to parents and carers that Life Education will be visiting Wallacia Public School on Tuesday 18 July, the first day of Term 2 for students. All payments need to be made by this Friday 1 July please. If your child wishes to buy Healthy Harold merchandise, please send in a sealed envelope or sandwich bag with the correct money on Tuesday 18 July.

Later in this newsletter we feature some great project work by Hannah Ison and Olivia Zizik 2/3C. Well done girls.
