Kelly Liang8/17/20135Hero Im starting with the man in the mirror. Im asking him to change his ways. This is what Michael Jackson sings in his song, Man in the Mirror. For me, a person who has the courage to make a decision to change in order to lead better lives for others is a hero. And this person, who is one of my many heroes, is my mother. About three years ago, my family decided to let me study in the United States. My parents wanted to have me taken care of in this foreign country, but they had to work in order to make a living. Therefore, my mom decided to give up her job in China, and to move to the United States with me. However, this decision not only meant that we would have less financial income to us, but also meant language barriers and cultural shocks in the United States, as well as fewer chances to hang out with her friend to my mom. Despite all theses possible consequences, she still moved in and lives with me without complaining in my presence. Thus, I am doing my best to accomplish her wishes by trying to do well in my academic achievement and to avoid making her feel bad, for she sacrifices a lot for me and I guess it was actually really hard for her to make this decision. If I were her, I might not be very confident about making this sacrifice. Maternal love is great, for it gives courage to mothers who would do anything for their children.
