the British.

• Member of the Continental Congress.

• Writer of the Declaration of Independence.

Benjamin Franklin

• Pennsylvania

• Sent to France as an American Diplomat.

• Helped form alliances.

• Helped create many of the

treaties after wars.

• Agreed to represent the British soldiers on trial for killing five civilians in what became known as the Boston Massacre

• First Continental Congress member

• Wrote the pamphlet Common Sense, it included:• All men had the right to vote.

• Blasted the king, calling him “a Royal Brute” and saying monarchies are corrupt.

• Leader of Sons of Liberty (in Boston)• A group that oppose British rule.

• In many cities throughout the colonies.

• Wrote several editorials

• Defeated the French to gain control

of North America. (French/Indian War)

• Ruled over the colonies.

• Tried to control the colonies with acts.

• Appointed by the King to capture Albany, New York.

• In order to end the rebellion.

• Thus restoring control back to the King.

• Obviously,• He loses!!!!!!!!

• Led the British successfully early on in the revolution.

• Loses the Battle of

Yorktown to the

Continental Army in 1781.
