against me and set me (and seven crew members) adrift in a small boat.

After exploring and conquering the island of Borinquen (later renamed Puerto Rico), I heard stories told of a mythical “fountain of youth”. While attempting to discover

this fountain, I discovered what I thought to be a “flowery”-looking island, which I

named Florida.

In 1534, the king of France sent me to the New World in hopes of discovering the

Northwest Passage. I sailed along the St. Lawrence river, in present-day Canada, and made France’s first big claim in the North

America.

I sailed to Mexico in search of wealth and arrived at a time when the Aztecs were expecting one of their gods to return. Initially defeated by the Aztecs, I later

returned and instituted a blockade around their capital city. I eventually defeated the

Aztecs and claimed their land for Spain. Who am I?
