I’ve spent the last 15 years in the education sector,the last 10 years have been specifically focused ondistance education. During the course of my PhDprogram at UNT, I have researched the use of socialmedia and video recording technologies to enhanceonline teaching and learning. I have developed anumber of Massive Open Online courses, employedVoiceThread and asynchronous video to increasethe sense of presence and community online, andcreated an informal learning community usingWordPress and Twitter. My research efforts haveprimarily focused on the development of informallearning communities using web-basedcommunication tools, humanization of onlineinstruction, and the motivation and self-regulationof online learners.
