WHY CAN’T I SELECT THE PATH DURING THE INSTALLATION?
For security issues with the new User Account Controller in Windows 7, the installation is limited on the drive C.
HOW DO I START THE INITIAL CONFIGURATION WIZARD AGAIN?
You just need to reset the software.
RESETTING THE SOFTWARE
1. Print options
2. Reset
3. Yes
4. Close and re-open the software
![Page 3: WhiteRIP: Frequently Asked Questions](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042604/568c4d821a28ab4916a43b60/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
THE SOFTWARE WON’T START ANYMORE, OR, IF STARTED, KEEPS ON GENE RATING ERRORS.
Issues can be fixed with a hard reset. Use the uninstaller found in Start Software WhiteRIP and delete the
C:\WhiteRIP directory. NOTE: Deleting the C:\WhiteRIP directory will effectively delete any custom profiles you saved, so
be sure to back them up first.

I SEE GENERIC ERRORS ON SCREEN, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Every time WhiteRIP generates an error, we encourage you to take a screenshot of it and submit it to the developer team
through the appropriate function “Send Bug” present in WhiteRIP, describing the operations that led you to the error.
You can also attach the image that you were processing in order for us to understand the issue and how to correct the
bug.
HOW DO I RECOGNIZE THE MODEL OF MY PRINTER?
Most printing plotters are based on Epson technology. If you are not aware of the model used in your plotter, you can
request informations to the manufacturer or you can look it up on the pc the plotter is connected to. Open the control
panel through Start Devices and printers, and you will have a list of all the devices and printers installed. Usually the
plotter appears as “EPSON X” where x indicates the model of the printers used.
I CAN’T FIND THE MODEL OF MY PRINTER ON THE MODEL SELECTION SCREEN.
On the promotional versions not all of the supported models appear. If your model is missing, send us an email at
[email protected] with the model of your printer and we will send you a compatible driver in a few days.
![Page 5: WhiteRIP: Frequently Asked Questions](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042604/568c4d821a28ab4916a43b60/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
ERROR: DRIVER NOT AVAIBLE
On the promotional versions, not all of the supported models are listed, also some of the listed models might not be
included in the version for marketing reasons. If the version in your possession lists the model of your plotter but you get
the “driver not avaible” error, write us an email at [email protected] and we will send you the compatible driver in a few
days.
THE COLORS OF THE PRINT ARE NOT THE SAME AS THE ONES I SEE ON THE SCREEN OF MY PC.
Given that the monitor has been profiled, it is necessary to refer to the guide on preparing a file for printing. You must
also know that the icc profiles are mostly generic and might not suit the print on the material you are using, so the colors
might not match. The only solution consists in the creation of an ad hoc icc profile per printer, per ink used and material
used.
For small variations, you can use the Fast Ink Control feature, by selecting your image and pressing F8. This step can also
be done before processing the file through WhiteRIP, with your image editing software, modifying the image in order to
get a better result.
THE COLORS PRINTED OUT DON’T MATCH THE ORIGINAL IMAGE AT ALL.
It’s important to understand that different plotter manufacturers use a number of inks ordered in different ways in the
printhead. The configuration needs to be set during the configuration wizard, or, optionally, through the interface avaible
at Rip Options Advanced.

I’M QUEUING THE PRINT BUT THE PLOTTER WON’T START
Given that you are sure the plotter is working correctly and is ready to print, you might not have selected the right
communication port for the printer.
To do this, select Standard Print options Printer
WHEN I PRINT AN IMAGE ON A DARK CAPE, THE WHITE UNDERBASE IS BIGGER THAN THE COLORED
LAYER.
In order not to have issues during the print, it’s important to follow the guides on preparing the files for printing and the
guide on the print procedure. WhiteRIP has a function for this kind of issue: it will allow you to print an underbase
smaller than the colored layer.
You can use this function by setting the “choke” value in the “Image” menu. The value needs to be greater than 1, which
means a resize of 0.7mm of ink. The suggested value for this setting is 2 or 3.

HOW CAN I ENHANCE THE COLORS TO MAKE THEM LOOK BRIGHTER?
It’s possible to higher the color tone, by overloading the image with the Booster parameter, which can be found on the
“Image” menu. The value of the booster is usually between 10 and 25 and it’s a setting that does not follow the color
profile, so images will be visually prettier but will not have the same color as the one in the original file.
HOW CAN I QUICKLY CHANGE THE IMAGE COLORS?
Selecting an open image and pressing F8 will take you to the Fast Ink Control panel, where you will be able to handle all
the ink channels separately and correct any color-related issue you are having.
I CANNOT FIND MY PRINT QUEUE ANYMORE!
In order to open and close the print queue, open the Visualize menu and click on Print Queue.
![Page 8: WhiteRIP: Frequently Asked Questions](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042604/568c4d821a28ab4916a43b60/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
I CAN SEE NOTHING ON THE PRINT ENVIRONMENTS!
The environments might need to be loaded manually. In order to do so, go to “Help” and press the “Update” button.
Reset the PDU and once the software is done, select your plotter, tick “rewrite” and press the download button.
I CANNOT FIND ANY PLOTTER THROUGH THE UPDATE PROCEDURE AND I HAVE NO ENVIRONMENTS!
In the menu, select Standard Rip Options Utilized Driver. From the dropdown menu, select the driver you’re using
and click on “Save”.

HOW CAN I CHANGE THE PLOTTER I AM USING?
The software, based on your version, will allow you to use one or more plotters at the same time. To change the currently
used plotter in the software, select on the menu Standard Rip Options Utilized Driver Set.
Once selected the desired plotter from the dropdown on the left, add it with the right arrow and save. If the software
won’t let you add the plotter, you must remove the currently utilized plotter with the left arrow.
HOW DO I CHANGE THE SOFTWARE INTERFACE STYLE? OR THE COLOR OF THE WINDOW?
Open the “Rip Settings” interface and select the desired visual skin among the avaible ones. Once done,
save the settings.

WHAT IS THE PCC OUTPUT?
Some plotter models, like the Eagle or the Condor, use a software called Printer Control Center to control the movements
of the printer. Selecting PCC as a WhiteRIP output, the print will be sent to the Printer Control Center. This is a
functionality written for owners of printers that use this particular kind of software.
I am getting the error “I can’t print on this printer”, what should I do?
The software does not allow you to print on a printer that is not the one configured. Please check you selected the correct
plotter and that the port is set to USB.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE ADVANCED PRINT OPTIONS THAT APPEAR ON THE FIRST STARTUP?
Rip Options Advanced
WHEN I POSITION THE IMAGE ON THE PREVIEW, AN ERROR BOX APPEARS, SAYING “OUT OF MARGINS.
SOME CLIPPING WILL OCCUR, CONTINUE?”. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
When this error appears, it means that you are trying to position the image out of the margins you set. The software is
warning you about the issue and asks you if you want to continue or if you want to reposition the image, since the part
outside of the margins will get cut from the print. Use the automatic positioning function in order to solve this issue.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE BASE MEASUREMENT UNIT?
The avaible units are millimeters, centimeters and inches.
In order to change the base unit, open the “Rip Options” and select the desired setting from “unit”. Save and restart
Whiterip.
HOW DO I SAVE THE MODIFICATIONS MADE IN THE FAST INK CONTROL FOR A CERTAIN ENVIRONMENT?
Usually, the modifications applied through the Fast Ink Control to the profile are done by pressing F8 when on the image
(alternatively, you can reach the same function through “Print options” ICC profile and ink liver Fast Ink
Control ) . In this case, the modifications are applied temporarily and will be reverted once the image has been
closed or the profile is changed.
In order to save the modifications to the profile, open “Print options” and select the third icon
In order to create a new environment, instead:

THE SOFTWARE IS DISPLAYING THE ERROR: “IMAGE TOO BIG FOR MEMORY”
This error occurs in the event you are trying to rip or print an image too big (dpi). When this happens, we suggest to
render the image lighter with an image editing softwar. We also suggest to check if the printing size is correct and if
nothing else works, try switching WhiteRIP to a 180 dpi resolution, as shown in the image below ( RIP Options PX
memory 180).
