This is a project of utmost immediate importance.
Will you please accumulate complete lists of all those who participated in the Nixon effort in the primary in any way so that these people can be sent a thank-you letter from RN? Please make separate lists by category, including the following:
Finance Chairmen Members of Finance Committe.s County Chairmen Members of County Committees Ccmmunity Chairmen Members of Community Committees Members of Policy Committees Members of Telephone Conmittees Headquarters Volunteers Key Program participants Speakers Bureau Monitor Program participants Nixonett.s
and any other groups of volunteers you can think of who actually put in some time and work or provided funds or other constructive assistance.
In the ca.e of specialized groups or specific special individuals, please draft a letter and attach your draft to the appropriate list. In the CAse of the obvious and e..ily identifiable categories, a draft will not be nece.sary.
RN i. most anxioua to have this material on his desk by Dext Tuesday in as complete form as is possible 80 that be can revi.., the letters prior to his departure for Denmark. 1 realize this will be a real straiD, but am sure you realize the importance of getting it done quickly and will, therefor., do so. Obviously the letters cannot be sent out after RN has left the country.

Alice Leopold points out that Jim Mitchell
is moving to San Franciaco to go to work for Crown-
Zellerbach, arriving there June 25th.
She feels that he might create certain
campaign problema in that the Negro.. in the Bay Area,
at least, feel that Michell did the cause of Civil Rights
a disservice because of demoting Ernest Wilkins in the
Labor Depara.ent to make room for George Lodge.
She alao points out the obvious problem of
Mitchell vis-a-vis the farm leadership in this state
because of his position on farm labor.
She does feel be mlpt be helpful with Hiller
and hia group and with some bi& business contacts. If he
is used at all, it should be in this area.

Will you please quickly have prepared a
printed thank-you card to be sent to all those who
sent in questions. contributions etc. for the Telethon?
The envelopes have already been addressed by
the volunteers. The form should be printed as quickly
as possible. the envelopes stuffed and mailed.
I would suggest a layout somewhat similar to the
Stans thank-you. and copy along the lines attached.
with an RN signature. Be sure to check the copy with
Loie before lending to the printer.
••• suggested copy for Telethon card acknowledgment:
Your interest and participation in our recent Win With Nixon Telethon is greatly appreciated. I am sure you will agree that this program was a major factor in the very encouraging results on Tuesday, June 5th.
As we move now into the early stages of the final campaign, I am counting on your support and assistance to a greater degree than ever before. I pledge myself to the most intensive campaign in California's history. We must bring decisive leadership to Sacramento - and working together,-we will.
Sincerely,
Richard Nixon
