I. PurposeI. Purpose
That the Planning and Development Committee concur and forward to the Board for approval of the following Opening date:
– White Flint Parking Structure – October 8, 2005 (Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held on October 12, 2005)

Prior Board Approvals:
July 2000 Board authorized the execution of leases on White FlintEast property and obligated the use of proceeds to fundthe replacement parking
July 2003 Board authorized staff to build the facility by initiatingand awarding, if within budget and subject toavailability of funds, a Design/Build contract for thefacility with Award subject to Board approval of FinalPublic Hearing Staff Report and Recommendations.
March 2004 Board approved Public Hearing Staff Report and Final Recommendations and approved the resolution to amend the White Flint General Plans to incorporate a new 6-level parking structure.

The parking garage was funded by using the proceeds from the land sale of White Flint West and Grosvenor south site and FY 05 TIIF revenues.

White Flint Parking Structure :
Replace existing 1158 surface parking spaces required for joint development with a 6-level 1272 space parking structure.
One level partially below grade, one at street level, four structured levels above grade.
Budgeted Cost: $17.4 Million.
Construction Duration: October 07, 2004 – October 8, 2005.
Precast erection – Started April 4, 2005, completed June 1, 2005. Total of 747 precast units. Average of 18 precast units erected per day.

OF THEWASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSIT AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, The Board of Directors is committed to the goal of providing safe and efficienttransit service for the people of the Washington metropolitan region; and
WHEREAS, The Authority's construction activities on the White Flint Parking Structure inRockville, Maryland have progressed so that an opening date of October 8, 2005 can beanticipated; and
WHEREAS, The opening of the parking structure will help improve mobility and the qualityof life for the citizens of our region and help the Authority achieve its transit goals; now,therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Board of Directors establishes October 8, 2005 as the actual openingdate for the White Flint Parking Structure and establishes a ceremonial opening date ofOctober 12, 2005; and be it further
RESOL VED, That the surface lot spaces shall remain available for use by Metro customerson a temporary basis until the land is required for joint development; and be it finally
RESOL VED, That this Resolution shall be effective immediately
