They walked into the Polish diner, it was the only one left open in thesmall town, and they were seated and Sam pulled out the files fromtheir latest case, ordered a salad and worked while Dean observed thesurroundings. Sam vaguely registered that there was music playing inthe background, but he was so immersed in his reading that he didn'thear or see Dean get up from the chair in front of him.

The music continued and when he looked up to tell Dean somethingabout the case, he noted that his brother was absent from his seat. Helooked around, sort of frantic, because Dean never just went missing.And when he turned around he saw the small group of older men whowere in the most ridiculous costumes playing the tacky music that wassurrounding the patrons, when he noted that his brother was in thecenter playing the accordion, and the older man whom Dean hadobviously borrowed the instrument was clapping and stomping his footin time to the rhythm.

Sam's mouth fell open and he blinked several times, rubbed his eyes,and tried to make sure that it was, in fact, his older brother up thereplaying the accordion; his rock loving, muscle car driving, leather jacketwearing brother. And he was. His leather jacket was slung over thechair and he was going to town on the accordion. And when the songwas over, Dean took the instrument off and handed it back to the manwith a clap on the shoulder and a smile of thanks, grabbed his jacketand came back to the table.

"What do we have?"

"What?"

"The case? What's the deal?"

"Ummm….ghosts……you play the accordion?" Dean shrugged, and tooka fry off o the plate that was in front of him. "You play the accordion?"Sam repeated.

"Jeeze Sam. One track mind much. So, the ghost, do we know whereit's buried?"

"Accordion." Dean rolled his eyes.

"Yes, Sam. I can play the accordion. So what?"

"You. You don't' like that kind of music."

"Where in the hell did you learn to play it?"

"New York."

"When?"

"Well, when you were in college…."

"Okay, how do we get out to the middle of the field Dean? We can'tdrive the car through this terrain."

"We'll ride the horses."

"Horses? I don't know how to ride a horse and neither do you." Samsaid incredulously.

"Yeah I do." Dean said as he entered the stable and coaxed one of thehorses out of the stall, saddled the horse, and got on it. "I'll be fine,you can stay here, call me if something happens."

"Dean, come on, you really don't know how to ride a horse. Quitpretending. It's not as easy as it looks in the movies."

"I learned how to ride a horse Sam, please."

"When?"

"Well…while you were in college….."

"Hey Dean?"

"Hmmm?" Dean said from his position on the bed reading a carmagazine.

"Did you go out and buy new t-shirts?"

"What?"

"This grey t-shirt, I thought it had a hold in it….did you go out and buynew shirts?"

"No, I didn't go out and buy any kind of clothes. You know I hate doingthat. That's your job princess."

"Then how did this shirt get fixed."

"Maybe you were wrong. Maybe it was a different shirt. Come on, whocares?"

Sam looked at the stitching a little more carefully, and then looked upat his brother, his mouth agape. "Did you sew this?"

"What? No. Of course not!"

"Dean?"

"Sewing is for chicks."

"Dean." Sam gave Dean the eyes that said he wasn't going to let thisgo. Dean sighed and threw the magazine down on the bed.

"Yes, fine. I did. Are you happy!?"

"This stitching is better than the rest of the shirt."

"So what?"

"You never knew how to sew like this before."

"I took a class. I was losing too many pairs of jeans."

"Took a class? When?"

"Well, while you were in college….."

"How do we get these people out of the house?" Sam asked frustratedas they looked over the material on the internet again.

"I don't know, what do rich fancy people need to get them out of thehouse? You would know that better than me." Dean said as he stuffed aslice of pizza in his mouth. Sam looked up, sighed, and shook his headat his uncouth brother.

"Well, I know Jessica's parents went to a lot of fancy parties."

"Jessica's family was rich?" Dean asked through a mouthful of food.

"Yeah. They had money."

"Go you little brother, snagging the rich chicks!" He laughed andslapped Sam on the shoulder.

"Grow up Dean." Sam said with an eye roll. He looked back at thecomputer. "I guess we could create a fake invite to some fancy party,that would get them out of the house."

"Cool." Dean said and threw the pizza he was holding back into the box,wiped his hands on his jeans, and headed out the motel room door.Sam sat there confused.

"I have to have the strangest brother in the entire world." Sammuttered and clicked a few keys, pulling up Microsoft Word to beginwork on the invitation.

Dean came back through, about as quietly as a heard of elephants, andcleaned off the table their dinner was on, and put a metal box on top,and began pulling out the calligraphy pens, inks, and fine stationary.

"What in the hell are you doing?"

"Making the invitation." Dean said casually and put calligraphy pen topaper.

"Oh please, Dean, give it up, don't know who you stole the pens andpaper from, but you can't do…" he stopped mid sentence when he sawDean's effortless penmanship flow across the eggshell parchment."When in the hell….." Dean looked up from his efforts and smiled.

"Well, while you were in college…."

Winter in Minnesota should be outlawed. Simply, really and trulyoutlawed. Sam pealed off his wet, freezing socks and sighed. They werehis last clean pair, and after trudging through the snow, they weremost certainly not clean anymore. At Stanford he hadn't needed boots,and had thrown out the pair he had had from before college. Heseriously needed to get Dean to stop somewhere and get him a newpair of shoes.

Clad in pajamas and no socks Sam entered the main part of the motelroom. "You ready for bed?" Dean asked as he turned off the television.

"Yeah."

"Where are your socks? The heater in this room isn't exactly stellar."He asked as he pulled his covers back on his bed.

"Out of socks. My last clean pair is soaking wet."

"Clean socks aren't exactly important. Just as long as they are warm."

"The last ten pairs of socks I've worn either have blood or monstergoop on them."

"Point taken." Dean sighed and went to his own duffel and rootedaround and found a pair of socks and threw them at his brother, andclimbed into his own bed.

"Dean?"

"Yeah?"

"Are these knitted socks?"

"Yeah, so what?"

"Where did you find knitted socks?"

"Nowhere."

"Dean, these are hand made knitted socks."

"So?"

"What, did some little old lady make them for you?"

"I never hang around long enough to get gifts. You know that."

"Then….did…you?" Sam asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Do what?"

"Did you knit the socks?"

"Oh come on." Dean said, and it was a tone Sam knew all too well, itwas the tone that said he was lying about something stupid.

"You knitted socks?"

"Sam…"

"Seriously, you can knit? That is so girly."

"Shut up." Dean said and rolled onto his side.

"Dude, seriously when did you learn this skill?"

Dean sighed and turned over and glared at his brother.

"You are never borrowing another pair of socks from me as long as youlive."

"When?"

"Well, while you were in college…."

"For the love of God!" Sam yelled as he threw down the book.

"What?" Dean asked mouth full of toothbrush and toothpaste.

"Nothing."

"What?"

"Nothing Dean."

"You're trying to get me out of this deal, and you are yelling about God,this is something I think I want to know."

Sam leaned back against the head board, and crossed his arms andglared at the offending book.

"Some hunter apparently thought it was funny as hell to write an entirebook in braille. You know, only the important stuff. Stuff that talksabout Hell Hounds and how to avoid them or kill them, or whatever,who knows, I can't read it."

Dean disappeared into the bathroom and spit out the toothpaste, rinsedoff his toothbrush and then came back into the room and picked it up.

"Come on Dean. It's in braille. Probably has the answer to all of this,and we don't know any blind hunters who can read braille. Why wouldthere be blind hunters? Seriously. What idiot thought this was funny?Think that maybe a demon would sneak up on a guy and read over hisshoulder." Sam stopped his grumblings and looked over at his brotherand watched him, his eyes closed, fingers lightly skimming over theraised dots.

"Dean. Stop pretending."

"It says that you can shoot Hell Hounds, but they'll never lose yourscent."

"You are making crap up."

"Ye of little faith." Dean said with a smile.

"You can't read brail. Don't' even pretend. Time for jokes is mostcertainly over."

"I'm not kidding. I can read it." Dean said with all seriousness.

"Really? When did you have time to learn that?"
