While most of the features in Medusa are intuitive, we felt some of the patches (primarily Sound design) may require some explanation.

1. Auditioning: You can also audition the drum/preset by clicking the drum icon (except for the double-eighth note groove icon).
2. Mix Preset Selection: You can switch between mix presets in three different way: Click one of the global mix presets (this assigns the selected preset mix to all six drum groups), the provided left/right arrows or by selecting the preset via the dropdown menu (which is activated when you click the preset name under the drum icon.
3. humanization: For those who like to quantize, this is a useful feature to help randomize midi playback. There are three settings to cycle through: Tight (randomizes MIDI up to 15 milliseconds), Natural (up to 30 ms) and Loose (up to 45 MS).

4. Live Hi-Hat Grooves: We recorded eighth-note live hi-hat patterns for five different hi-hat states at three different tempos. Each tempo group is mapped to a specific octave: First octave contains the grooves recorded at 90 BPM, the second octave at 120 BPM and the third octave at 140 BPM.
5. Crossfade-able Hi-Hat Grooves: The ‘C’ of each of the three mapped octaves plays back the crossfade-able grooves. Use the modwheel (CC1) to crossfade.
6. Groove Speed: This is to broadly control the tempo of the live hi-hat groove samples. The settings provided are: Half, Normal (default) and Double.
7. Assignable Outputs: Right under the vertical volume faders are assignable Kontakt outputs for further mixing.
Medusa - Auxiliary.nki
1. Tambourine & Suspended cymbal rolls: For the tambourine and suspended cymbal rolls, you can crossfade between the dynamics with the modwheel (CC1). There are two variations; one without a release trigger and one with.
The Pulses - 90 & 120 BPM.nki
This patch consists of live hybrid rhythms. While they all lock to your project’s tempo, you can halve or double the tempo by hitting keys in the adjacent mirrored octave(s). Orange/Yellow/Red is Half/Default/Double.
You can also introduce more/less elements in that loop by moving the modwheel (CC1) up/down.

That GTR Patch - 90 BPM - KS.nki
This patch is a live eighth-note double-tracked electric guitar groove. With the modwheel down, it’ll play the palm-muted variation. As you push the modwheel (CC1) up, it’ll crossfade between the slight-open and full-open variations.
The first keyswitch per color activates the single-string variation. With the secondary keyswitch per color, you’ll activate the power chord variation.
The keyswitch pairings also indicate the means to halve or double the tempo of the given performance. Blue/Green/Yellow is Half/Default/Double. Rock on, brother.

Chuggin Celli - 120 BPM - KS.nki Electricoustic - 120 BPM - KS.nki
These two patches also include keyswitches that allow you to halve or double the tempo. Blue/Green/Yellow is Half/Default/Double.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SOUND DESIGN PATCHES
All Sound Design patches (except for “Bottom Line.nki”) include some form of modwheel (CC1) and Pitch Bend control.
