Worship begins when I confront my idols. (v. 16-18)

Worship requires understanding the truth of God. (v. 19-24)

Worship is found in wholehearted commitment to Christ, not a place. (v. 19-24)

Jesus us the object of true worship. (v. 25-26)

Putting The Bible Into Practice:What is worship? What do people in East TN worship? Compare Mark 12:29-30; Matthew 6:24; John 4:21-24, 8:28-29 & Hebrews 12:28-29. What kind of worship pleases the Father? What ‘idols’ has Jesus revealed in your life? How did you respond?

How did Jesus change worship from ‘temple based’ to ‘spirit & truth’ based? Read John 14:6,25, 16:13 & 1 Peter 1:10-11. How are Jesus, the Holy Spirit & the Bible connected? How are they distinct? What does it mean for you to worship in ‘spirit & truth’?

How did the Samaritan woman’s worship change? How has your worship changed as youhave walked with Jesus? What in your life pleases God but seems insignificant to you?

Challenge: Memorize John 4:23 & pray that you can grow as a 24/7 ‘spirit & truth’ worshipper.
