2019 SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS GENERAL INFORMATION: Below is the important information you will need to know before you arrive at NSU for the 2019 Summer Music Camps.

LOCATION All camps are sponsored by Northwestern State University, located in the beautiful city of Natchitoches, Louisiana.

RULES AND REGULATIONS Participants are expected to attend all activities and classes. Roll will be checked at each class meeting. Students having unexcused absences from class will be dismissed from the camp. For your safety, there will be no leaving campus at any time during the week. All participants are directly responsible to the dorm supervisors. Unless otherwise specified by the dorm supervisor, lights out will be at 11:00 p.m. Quiet should prevail between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Participants bringing a car with them to camp should register the car and leave the keys with the camp coordinator. If you must leave the campus for any reason, you will need permission from the camp coordinator. There will be no smoking, drinking, or consumption of non-prescription drugs by any participants at any time. Participants violating these rules are subject to dismissal from the camp. All prescription medications must be left with the camp nurse at registration.

WHAT TO BRING Any unpaid balances will be due at registration. Music Camp participants should bring linens including a pillow, pillowcase, twin single top and bottom sheet, bedspread or a blanket. You should

also bring soap, towels, washcloths and other necessary toiletries. Color Guard camp participants will need to bring a water bottle.

Optional items you may wish to consider: rain gear, ALARM CLOCK, hair dryer, drinking glasses, etc. All clothes, instruments and other personal items you bring to Natchitoches should be marked, labeled and stamped with your name and school. Northwestern State University cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items belonging to camp participants. Participants are urged to bring extra spending money for snacks, bookstore novelties, etc.

WHAT TO WEAR Summer attire, such as shorts, school clothes, etc., should be worn to all classes. Campers should bring a pair of gym shoes. Shoes should be worn at all times. For the Final Concert all campers will wear blue jeans and the “NSU Summer Camp” T-shirt to be given out during the camp. Colorguard campers need to bring black shorts or dance pants for the Final Concert. Swimsuits (must have a lining) should be brought for the swimming activities.

HOUSING Students are housed in air-conditioned residence hall facilities with two students per room/4 students to a suite. Participants are to adhere to all Northwestern State University dormitory regulations and will be held responsible for any damage or loss of NSU property. Participants are expected to checkout of their dormitory room by the check out time listed on the schedule on the last day of camp. Please make arrangements so you may

adhere to this policy. A $50 fee will be charged for lost dormitory keys.

MEALS All meals will be served in Iberville Cafeteria, which is within walking distance from the dorm. You will receive a wrist band, which will be required at the serving line in order to eat. WEAR THIS AT ALL TIMES! A replacement fee of $50 will be charged for lost meal tickets.

MAIL/EMERGENCY PHONE CALLS Mail should be addressed to Northwestern State University, School of Creative and Performing Arts, Attn: Participant’s Name, Natchitoches, LA 71497. In case of emergency, your parents may reach you at the camp office at (318) 357-4522 during the day or at (318) 357-5431 in the evenings.

UNIVERSITY INFIRMARY SERVICES Any participants who become ill and are unable to attend classes must report to the camp nurse. If it should become necessary to utilize the services of a medical doctor beyond the normal infirmary services, and additional fees are incurred, the parents of the participant will be required to pay these fees.

CAMP OFFICE The official camp office will be in the NSU Coordinator of Summer Music Camps Office area (RM. #114). Any problems arising during the camp should be addressed to this office.
