  • UK Milling and feed wheat prices

  • Plant breeding

Varieties suitable for milling into flour are essential for milling and the food processing sectors.

Millers want high-quality UK varieties suitable for a range of purposes. Range, consistency and succession are important

Millers support UK plant breeders and are keen to work with them.

Millers welcome a vibrant, profitable and successful plant breeding sector.

    Wheat Variety Selection

Varietal characteristics strongly influence the potential for achieving an

end specification. E.g. protein quality and quantity, Falling Number.

No wheat variety gives universal performance across all applications so

appropriate selection based on market requirements is essential.

Incorrect matching of variety to growing conditions and input approach

can lead to inconsistent final grain quality. E.g. variable Hectolitre

    Weight.

Selecting a variety with appropriate disease resistance characteristics

    could help reduce mycotoxin incidence/loadings.
