What’s in Your Driveway
Rudy Bauer’s 1971 Thunderbird
Year and other descriptive Items:
1971 Ford Thunderbird, 4 door Landau, 429 CID
V8, Color is Medium Ginger Metalic with Leather
& Vinyl Split Bench Seat and a Full Vinyl Top in
Brown.
What makes this car unique?
Front and rear doors open from the centerpost.
What is the history of your Thunderbird?
The car was purchased from a Ford Service
Representative in July of 2002. I requested that
the car pass the NYS inspection prior to purchas-
ing the vehicle.
What is the current value of your car?
The price guides indicate that value at approxi-
mately $4,000.
Vanity Plate and its meaning or how you
decided on this plate: NYS Historical Plates
Your Comments:
I became a member of the Long Island
Thunderbirds prior to purchasing this vehicle. A
club member, Frank Del Rossi found the car for
sale on a street in Jamaica Estates, New York. He
suggested that I look into the possibility of buying
the car. The initial cost was $500 plus the cost of
a new exhaust system. The car had minor body
damage that was repaired and then the car was
painted by AmeriCar Auto Painting in a color that
closely resembles the original color. I enjoy driv-
ing this classic automobile.

Your Show of Shows
Part Two
July 22, 2007:
Yes I want to talk about the show again. At last count we had (163)
vehicles paid, and over (155) in attendance. I wanted to thank a
few more people that supported us, and deserve to have their
names it print. First is Bob Fregenti of Fregenti Insurance for get-
ting our goodie bags from Hagerty and an assortment of stuff for
them. Remember, Bob is one of our advertisers, support him.
Second is Dianne Date Office Manager from Legendary Ford
Magazine, who supplied us with an annual subscription to the
magazine. Last but not least, we gave the guys at Syosset Ford a
budget of $2,000.00 which we exceeded by almost $500.00. Yes,
you guessed it they paid for everything we billed them for.
Remember this is your show, and we want to improve what we do
every year. We would like suggestions, ideas, are you happy with
the participant judging. Also if you would like a show t-shirt the cost
is $10.00, just call me with your size.
WE WAS ROBBED
An interesting situation occurred prior to July 22
nd
with our food
vendor from last year. First we had to give her a $200.00 deposit
to reserve her for the day, which we did. Next during the week prior
to the show, she showed up at the dealership to find Wendy’s next
door, and on the other side a bagel store. She was fit to be tied,
and said she was not coming. OK, now I’m upset, and where is our
$200.00. Well it is now almost three weeks past the show date,
and still no return deposit.
Her name is Dawn D’Amico, and her truck or business is called
“With All My Heart Hot Dogs N More”. Maybe she should
change the name to “With all our money”. I want you guys to keep
a look out for her truck. If you see it, don’t approach her; just call
me with the location. We have a phone number, and address, but
at this time it does not help us

Ok this is our last outdoor session for 2007. Let’s go out with a

fortable.

A Message from Sal Furnari
I came across this in Newsday’s Junior Damato’s
column.
Dear Doctor,
I own a 1965 Corvett and I’m very concerned with
ethanol increasing in gasoline over the next year.
My concern is possible corrosion effect, as well as
the wear on the engine.
Yes, ethanol in older cars, boats and for anyone
using small engines. There are many additives on
the market that state they add lubrication and
anti-corrosion properties. There is one proeduct
called Marvel Mystery Oil that has been around
for a long time. A bottle added to each tankful is
good insurance against corrosion.
On a separate matter, Nicky took 3rd place at the
Flowerfields show with his 1960 Thunderbird. I
took 2nd place with my 1965 Thunderbird. there
was a lot of rain on show day.

attended an ITC convention, and you’re really into your bird,
you are missing a good time. Except for the last two years,
I think I attended eight in a row. I was in Dearborn, for the
unveiling of the new bird in 2000, than Zanesville, Ohio, and
as far north as Watkins Glen. “Have Bird Will Travel”. Will
take pictures, and report back in the next issue of Bird Talk.
American Gangster the Movie: There is a web site now
for this movie, and a trailer www.americangangster.net . It
looks like the movie will hit the theaters on November 2,
2007. I can just see it now, that all the guy’s and their cars
that where in this movie will be sitting in rows two or three
(because we are old and cannot see) and looking for their
cars.

at McDonalds in West
Islip, our annual outdoor meeting with the little bird club, we
only had four cars in attendance. John Frisbee, Charlie
Veith, Art Fleming, and yours truly. Rudy showed up without
car because it did not start, and Mr. Joe made a guest
appearance on the way home from work.
I dislike putting negatives in the newsletter, but you people
embarrassed me. TONY had at least (14) cars in the park-
ing lot, to our four. We could have played zone, and we still
would have lost. Where have all the members gone……….
Some Yuks
I want to go out tonight, “women said to her husband, “Take
me somewhere expensive.” “Sure,” he replied and then
dropped her off at an Exxon station.
Standing nude, a woman looked in the bedroom mirror and
said to he husband, “I feel fat and ugly, Pay me a compli-
ment,” He replied, “Your eyesight’s damn near perfect.”
