Top Marks Year 5/6 Students I received this email from Hilary Clifton, who is a senior advisor with the Ministry of Education. The children being referred to in the email were our Year 5 / 6 students whom Jodie took to Nelson on camp towards the end of last term. We received a lot of positive comments from those people that worked with us at various venues and we were really proud to receive this acknowledgement from Hilary. Kia ora Mark I’ve been meaning to contact you to pass on some feedback I had from a friend who happened upon your students at the Suter Gallery on 19 th June. My friend was filling in time as I was across the road at an appointment. She decided to hook up to a school group (your kids) who were working with the Suter educator on a current exhibition. My friend was so excited to see how your students were responding and their behavior in general. She couldn’t stop talking about them. She has recently retired from the University of Canterbury as a lecturer and School Leadership – she knows her stuff and she knows kids. Well done you and well done to your lovely students. Olympic Day With the Olympics starting on 27 July and with classes working on various Olympic activities, we will be holding an Olympic Day on Friday 3 rd August. The children will be put into teams of mixed age groups and during the morning they will do various activities based around the country they have chosen. In the afternoon all the teams will come together to compete against each other in various games. We will finish with a medal ceremony. Teacher Aides While Abbie Stephens is teaching in Rm 4 for Judy, her teacher aide position for the next few weeks will be taken over by Andrea Ashford. 19th July 2012 - Week 1 Term 3

Friday Lunches

Homemade mince pies $2.50 Cupcake $1.50

Thanks to Jan and Bonnie for the lunches this week!

Top Marks Year 5/6 Students I received this email from Hilary Clifton, who is a senior

advisor with the Ministry of Education. The children being

referred to in the email were our Year 5 / 6 students whom

Jodie took to Nelson on camp towards the end of last term.

We received a lot of positive comments from those people that worked with us at various venues and we

were really proud to receive this acknowledgement from Hilary.

Kia ora Mark I’ve been meaning to contact you to pass on some feedback I had from a friend who happened upon your students at the Suter Gallery on 19th June.

Olympic Day With the Olympics starting on 27 July and with classes working on various Olympic activities, we will be

holding an Olympic Day on Friday 3rd August.

The children will be put into teams of mixed age groups and during the morning they will do various activities

based around the country they have chosen. In the afternoon all the teams will come together to compete

against each other in various games. We will finish with a medal ceremony.

Teacher Aides While Abbie Stephens is teaching in Rm 4 for Judy, her teacher aide position for the next few weeks will be

taken over by Andrea Ashford.

Penny Laws, who has also been working a teacher aide, is on a teaching placement at Havelock School and

Rose

Williams will work in her place.

Lynnette Edwards will continue in her role as teacher aide.

Teacher Aide Support Commitment The Board of Trustees budget $40,000 in teacher aide wages to assist children at Motupipi School who

need extra support. We have been reviewing the use of teacher aide time and have decided to make a few

changes.

If your child is to receive extra teacher aide support then parents will be notified by letter of what help is

being offered and what parents can do to help their child. Parents will be asked to sign the letter

acknowledging their commitment to help out.

For this support to work really well and to maximize the learning we need to work as a team.

Miniball A note went home today with the miniball teams on as well as a copy of the draw. The close off date to play

miniball was the end of last term and as stated then we will not be taking any late enrolments due to it

making teams too large and therefore less court time for those already registered in time.

Note that children must be in the correct sports gear in order to play, which is shorts and school t-shirt.

Assembly Assembly will start next Wednesday 25th July at 2.10pm at the Motupipi Hall. The second assembly will be

on the Thursday the 9th August with our guitar students and Levity performing. They will resume the fol-

lowing fortnight on Wednesdays as usual.

Daffodil Day Daffodil Day is on Friday 31 August, and as is customary, we will be raising money for the Cancer Society.
