what’s coming by lesley ewen

what’s coming What’s coming? Something’s afoot. Something measured. Held at bay. Something shadows cling to play with. What’s coming? The cat cries me-out And in the darkness, shouts it out. And not for supper is this cry; It’s for the heaven-sent to fly Avail themselves of task-needs done And in their work to leave out none, And with their wings Enshroud the All that Williams speak of with their Soul. What’s coming? Something’s definitely there A shoe to drop down through the air A word to shatter all belief And take to bludgeon all our dreams. And when it comes, and drops and breaks the gods we fake to imitate; We’ll cower under stairs and drains. And say, “Who knew?” or “End of days, mate” What’s coming? The next queries rise. The When of it and then the size. Then When and How and Why affects, And then we’re done, And then What’s next?

whats coming

Whats coming?

Somethings afoot.

Something measured. Held at bay.

Something shadows cling to play with.

Whats coming?

The cat cries me-out

And in the darkness, shouts it out.

And not for supper is this cry;

Its for the heaven-sent to fly

Avail themselves of task-needs done

And in their work to leave out none,

And with their wings

Enshroud the All that Williams speak of with their Soul.

Whats coming?

Somethings definitely there

A shoe to drop down through the air

A word to shatter all belief

And take to bludgeon all our dreams.

And when it comes, and drops and breaks the gods we fake to imitate;

Well cower under stairs and drains.

And say, Who knew? or End of days, mate

Whats coming?

The next queries rise.

The When of it and then the size.

Then When and How and Why affects,

And then were done,

And then

Whats next?
