Never play with electrical decorations, lights, cords, or outlets. Make sure cords are not pinched or damaged by windows, doors, or furniture. Matches and candles should only be handled by adults. Blow candles out when you leave the room or go to sleep. Test smoke alarms once a month, and replace batteries at least once a year. Don’t leave space heaters unattended. An adult should be around if something is cooking. Keep the stove and cooking area clear of anything flammable, such as towels or pot holders. Don’t overload outlets with too many appliances or decorations. If the outlet looks too crowded with cords, ask an adult for help. Never yank on the cord to unplug something.
