What’s the Buzz at St Joseph’s this month?
SPORTING SUCCESSES
GIRLS FOOTBALL
On the 1st of May, the girls’ football team played the league final against St Mary’s. The game
kicked off at 15:45 and Bronte scored from a corner .When the other team put it in their own net,
it was 1-0 St Joseph’s. We had more chances against St Mary’s in the first half. After half time,
we came back, all more determined. Lucy ran it down the wing; she passed it to Erin, who
passed it to Eve, who scored a goal. 2-0! Later on, the other team scored a goal .When the whis-
tle blew for full time, we went crazy. We had just won the league for a second time in a row. We
had cupcakes, sweets and also a few pictures.
NETBALL COMPETITION!!!!!
On Monday 19th March, the year 5&6 netball team visited Highlands Primary school in Rom-
ford for the netball semi-finals; they won 6-3 against Highlands school. It was a very close
game at the start, but I netted the first goal and put us in front! Their celebration was short-
lived, as Highlands scored and made it 1-1. Fortunately, I scored again and Bronte (6B) got us
up to 3-1! Just before the end of the first period it went to 3-2. In the second period, Bronte
scored another goal, but the score went up one to Highlands as well, and the score was then 4-
3. Luckily, Michael (6B) put us up to 5-3. Finally -in the last period– I found my hat-trick and
helped us get the grand score of 6 goals!
I, the hat-trick hero, reported, ”It was a tough game, but I am happy that we came back with a
win.” Now St. Joseph’s are in the final and the whole of newspaper club wish them good luck!

NEW DIET COKE FLAVOURS Diet Coke releases four new fruity flavours in the ‘Instagram-ready’ slim cans. These include
Ginger Lime, Twisted Mango, Zesty Blood Orange and Feisty Cherry. They were first released
in The United States Mid-January and then they were released in Canada in February. Coke
started to sell free Exotic Mango and Feisty Cherry samples in London for people to try; they
loved it! Sadly we only get Feisty Cherry and Exotic Mango in this country. Also, in January,
Coke confirmed that it would make its bottles smaller and hike prices in a bid to beat sugar tax.
The 1.75 litre bottle will shrink to 1.5 litre and go up in price by 20p. One thing that has hap-
pened is Bonnie Wright, the woman who played Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter, started a peti-
tion with Greenpeace giving the message to ‘’Not choke our oceans! No more plastic!’’ More
than 585,000 people want the company to abandon single-use plastics.
I am excited for the new flavours; hope this has made you too.

OUR RUBBISH AND WHERE IT GOES
Recycling is important to look after the environment. Did you know that the average British
person throws away four pounds of rubbish daily? That is more than 1.5 tons of waste per per-
son per year. Multiply that by 6 billion people and you know we have a major problem with
waste.
The main problem is plastic but there are other not so public problems too. One of the main dis-
guised issues is that people put their rubbish in the wrong bins. This means that this amount of
landfill will come about .
Why don’t we all get creative and paint and clearly label our bins like the ones in the picture we
could even make it fun by adding a bit of glitz and glamour to them. It’s an opportunity to have
fun and spend time with family whilst helping out our planet and keeping it healthy.
Some other ideas to help out are planet are to make things with old items; use up old paper and
transform old wine corks into masterpieces.
JUNK ORCHESTRA
Hello people of the world! In school we had a JUNK ORCHESTRA. A man called Marko told us
about his orchestra he created out of random objects( basically just rubbish) and then he let us
have a go playing the instruments. There were drums made out of big blue buckets and the
sticks had tennis balls at the bottom. They were one of the loudest instruments. Marko was our
conductor and when he made gestures for us to start, we made a big racket! Year three, four,
five and six had a go doing the Junk Orchestra and each year had lots of fun!
Marko showed us that it’s good to be resourceful and use what you have. You never know what
you can do until you try!

A homophone is two words that are spelt dif-
ferently that sound the same
1. Two of a fruit
2. A baking ingredient that grows in your
garden
3. To cry for a sea creature
4. After dark in shinning armour
5. To look at the ocean
6. To encounter the beef
7.An animal that grows on your
head
8. Not strong for seven days

Hannah’s Thoughts
YES! IT’S WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! HANNAH’S THOUGHTS!
APPLAUD! APPLAUD LOUDLY!
Do you want to know about one thing that crosses my mind a lot? Unicorns! I know they aren’t
real but I just think that if they were they would be so mysterious and colourful and AMAZING!
So today I’m going to talk to you about what I think about most of the time. Usually, if I’m wait-
ing for something, my vivid and wild imagination will take me somewhere in my mind and I
won’t have to feel bored! I know, amazing, right?
Or if I am in school and the lesson I am doing bores me, I’ll start thinking about my favourite
foods( I love food!) or unicorns or even Egyptian mummies! Why you ask? Because they are
creepy, but awesome! Sometimes, if someone is speaking to me and I’ll already have been think-
ing about something deeply, I won’t even know what they were saying! I love writing because,
as I already said, I have a massive imagination, so when I write, my wonderful imagination can
spill out and everyone can see how amazing it is and I can show everyone my wild ideas!
Sometimes at home I like to write stories-
of anything that’s on my mind! It’s always
very fun and I love doing it! ! By Han-

Lifeline Express
In India, there is a health line district, yes district. To help people in the poorer part of the
country. It is a hospital or surgery to the public. It’s a free health care company on the go.
The people of India can access the train at any time (when the station is open). The company
will launch a new train soon so the people in need can get help faster. Also, the company
can help people in need faster than only with one train. It is not clear when it will be
launched but it will be. By Amelie :)
A TRADGEDY WITH THE MARKLES
It was recently revealed that Meghan Markle - bride to be of Prince Har-
ry - is grieving over the illness of her father, and has sadly claimed that
he will not be attending the royal wedding at Windsor castle. Meghan
stated that she is ‘Sad’ over the absence of her father. Due to this tragic
event, Meghan is trying to figure out who she will ask to give her a way
at her wedding. As we are all regretful of this woeful news, we hope
that Meghan’s father will recover even more healthier then before, and
that Meghan will pull through and still feel joyful on heer special day.

The Royal Baby!
Yes! You read correct! There’s a new baby in the royal family! It’s a baby boy called Louis, he
was born on Monday the 23rd of April, 2018. He was born in St. Mary’s Hospital, London.
Louis’ full name is :His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge. I’m sure
Prince William and Kate Middleton must be over the moon!
It’s so fantastic that there is an addition to the wonderful royal family! Without a doubt, he
will grow up to do wondrous things just like his parents. I can’t wait to see them happen.
The date today is the 3rd of May 2018 and Louis is ten days old. How cute! He has two sib-
lings: Prince George of Cambridge, age four and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, age three. I
hope they will look after their new sibling!
I can’t wait to see what Louis will achieve in the future! I’m certain it will be something great!

Meghan and Harry’s Fairy-Tale Ending (or beginning).
Meghan and Harry’s wedding is just around the corner and millions across the country were
looking forward to the joyous celebration this event brought. Whether it’s the beautiful dress
Meghan wore, or the atmosphere of the ceremony, the idea of this wedding warms hearts and
draws smiles. As much as we are disappointed that we didn’t receive a lovely white invita-
tion in the mail inviting us to the royal wedding, I’m sure that we all gathered around the TV
to watch Harry and Meghan’s procession on May 19th 2018.
A lot of people disapprove of Meghan and say that the bride of the prince should be an
‘English Rose’. As it is absolutely fine to have their own opinion , we believe that it doesn’t
matter what their culture is, as long as they are kind and respectful and truly love their part-
ner, they shouldn’t have to be judged.
If you didn’t see it you can either watch it on BBC iPlayer or ITV hub! If you saw it hope you
enjoyed it like us.

We Are All Unique!
There ISN’T enough self esteem in this world and it IS NOT ok! We shouldn’t feel bad about be-
ing unique. If anyone or anything is making you feel bad about it, then they are wrong. Our dif-
ferences are the colours we add to the world, and if we were all the same the world would just
be dull and grey. I don’t know about you but I would rather have a colourful and exquisite
world than a grey and boring world. Please don’t make the mistake of feeling upset about being
unique. There is no such thing as weird, ugly, ‘odd one out’ , but there IS such thing as differ-
ent, unique, interesting and beautiful. You can find that in yourself if you look hard enough, but
you can’t let what people say or do block you inner confidence and pride. Celebrate your differ-
ences rather than being ashamed of them.

SATs ARE OVER!!!
On 17th May, the exhausted children on Year 6 finished their SATs! With only some writing
assessments to go, they are impressed with themselves. Along with motivating teachers, they
had amazing friends cheering them on. Rosie , a Year 6 student , commented that she exams
weren’t as hard as she expected. Another Year 6 student, said that the SATSs were so easy
you don’t need to worry about them.

Great Movies ...To Watch!!!
Have you seen any of these movies?
Well ,whether you have or you haven’t you need
to read on. These are some of the best movies of
2018!!!
1.The Greatest Showman;
2.Infinity War;
1.The Greatest Showman, is a number 1 , must watch ,#awesome
movie.
It’s soundtrack has outsold Adele’s 21 album and is a show-stopping sensation.
This film is based on a true story, about a poor boy ,who came from nothing, and “borrowed”
money from his old job ,to make a circus (the celebration of humanity). This is a great movie to
watch and it’s out on itunes/apple tv/ on demand.PG (Parental Guidance is advised.)
2.Infinity War is one of the biggest hits of 2018. On the weekend it came out, it made $630 mil-
lion. No spoiler alert but Thanos is trying to collect the infinity stones, as many of you know, the
Guardians of the Galaxy join up with The Avengers to try and stop Thanos. Unfortunately, he
wipes half of the Universe out but do not fear! There will definitely be another film next year and
–hopefully– “someone ’’(Captain Marvel or Tony Stark) will save them (Rated 12A,and it is at
the cinema still).
3.Wonder, is a heartbreaker it is based on a boy who has facial problems . He did get bullied but
at the end it was all good . There are scenes to make you cry. It is very emotional and over-
whelming but it is a great movie . I think that you should definitely go and watch it. Remember
to bring some tissues! (It rated PG ,available on apple tv /itunes /on demand)

Champions of the League
It was a boiling afternoon when our St. Joseph’s football team ( Daniel ,
Vincent , Joshua , Charlie , Charlie , Ethan and Toby ) were playing in the
league final .They had to go to Harrow Lodge School to fight for the cup.
They started the match very close because the possession was equal but
we had a lot of chances , we could not put our chances away until we got
the deflection of the goalkeeper and Charlie Byrne put us in front and
scored. Joy spread across our team when that happened. Then it was half
time and we were tired but we had to go into the last half. Suddenly,
Vincent James stuck it in the bottom left corner when the half started to
put us 2-0 up. Moments later, the opposition was on the attack and from
our corner flag they somehow stuck it in the top left corner and then it
was 2-1, cheering was heard all over the pitch by the opposition. 5
minutes left and we had to stay in the lead, then the whistle blew and we
screamed our heads off. We won the cup, and we brought it back to
amazing cheers. By Vincent 6I
