Common Misconceptions

• Signing up for an ROTC class is not the same as enlisting

• Basic Training is not required for participation in ROTC

• ROTC Cadets are not treated like Army privates.

• ROTC produces leaders, not followers

February 1st, closed on January 10th of their Senior Year

Presidential Fitness Test and Interview at local Army ROTC program

• Application Process Opens to Incoming Freshmen upon arrival On-

Campus, closes at the end of the first semester of the student’s Junior year.

Cadets apply through their Military Science Instructor.

Transcripts/Application to Contract submitted to WIU ROTC Scholarships and Enrollments Officer

Applicant must score 80 pts or more on each category of the Army Physical Fitness Test (held once per month) to be considered.

Applications processed through Scholarship Boards held once per month. Applications approved/denied based on GPA, Army Physical Fitness Test score, and leadership during classes, physical training, and labs.8 yr commitment (4 Active, 4 IRR OR 8yr Guard/Reserve)
