COMMUNITY SPRING CLEAN UP

LOCATION: Reservoir, top of Eagles Hill, North of Hwy. 836 on Cemetery Hill Road (gravel).

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

FREE: Disposal of non– diseased tree limbs, shrubs, leaves & grass

FREE: Household Refuse - kitchen / bathroom refuse, furniture and toys

FREE: Metal - bikes, BBQ's, pipe, metal furniture, car parts (all fuel and oil MUST be removed from any motorized units. eg. lawnmowers, weed wipers, etc.)

FREE: E-Waste - T.V.'s, computers, DVD players, microwaves, stereo's and their components

CHARGE - $7 PER ITEM - CASH ONLY: Appliances - stoves, washer, dryers, dishwashers

CHARGE - $15 PER ITEM - CASH ONLY: fridges & deep freezers. Please remove Freon before disposal.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS ~ Renovation/demolition materials such as wood, carpet, underlay, cupboards, toilets, commercial trade waste, used motor oil, oil containers, oil filters. ~ Barb wire and chain link fence ~Propane bottles ~ Toxic substances including empty containers that contained toxic substances: paint cans, spray paint, pesticide/herbicides.

A Skid Steer and Operator will be available to load FREE MULCH

during the Spring Clean Up on May 14, 15 & 16, 2020 at the Reservoir.

What you can expect when camping in Carbon in Spring 2020

Opening Day is June 1, 2020.

Promoting COVID-19 prevention measures are in effect following Alberta Health Services (AHS) recommendations.

The Campgrounds will operate at 50% capacity to enable 30 feet apart for each campsite. ALL Tenting Sites are CLOSED.

You MUST camp in a self contained unit (RV, Motorhome, Travel Trailer) and use your own functioning toilet, shower, and bathroom facilities.

Shared use facilities like toilets and showers are Closed.

Co-mingling of campsites is NOT PERMITTED to ensure safe Social Distancing.

No gathering of more than 15 people is allowed in one indoor or outdoor location. Social and Physical Distancing of 2 metres (6 feet) is mandatory.

Playgrounds, group camping sites, group firepits, events and gathering places including the Camp Kitchen (in Main Campground) are cancelled and/or closed.

Ball Diamonds and parks will be closed until further notice.

Carbon Centennial Swimming Pool is closed for the 2020 season.

Walking paths will remain open.

Campground staff are not allowed to collect your garbage or recycling. Campers need to use the dumpsters and receptacles provided at the campgrounds.

Each site will be sanitized after each use by the Campground Attendant.

UNSIGHLY PREMISES BYLAW

Bylaw 2011-778 states that no owner (s) of a premises shall cause, allow

or permit the premises to become or to continue to be an Unsightly Premises. This means that any property that exhibits visual evidence of a lack of general maintenance, clean up and upkeep, including excessive

accumulation on the premises of:

the whole or part of any vehicles which are not registered with the Motor Vehicle Registry for the current year and which are inoperative by reason of disrepair, removed parts or missing equipment or any vehicles which are otherwise not in a roadworthy condition

Garbage, dirt, soil, gravel, rocks, petroleum products

hazardous material and sewage

disassembled equipment or machinery

broken household chattels or goods

animal excrement & the whole or part of animal remains

CARBON CENTENNIAL POOL Due to COVID-19, the Carbon Outdoor Swimming Pool

will be closed for the 2020 season. We look forward to a great season in 2021!

RECYCLING PROGRAM REINSTATED

The recycling program has been reinstated in

Carbon. Cardboard (flattened) and Newspaper

can be recycled using the bins at the Diamond

Valley Subdivision. **Styrofoam not permitted**

CARBON TRANSFER STATION

The Carbon Transfer site is for household garbage ONLY. All garbage MUST be bagged and cannot be loose.

This is so debris does not blow away during transport. Please remember to be respectful to the Attendants as they

are only doing their job and can refuse any load.

The Carbon Transfer Station is open on Saturday's from

9am to 5pm and located East on Sharples Road,

first left, first right on top of the hill.

CARBON RESTAURANT UPDATES

The Carbon Valley Hotel is closed to the public, however, still providing takeout orders & off sales. For orders and free delivery within the Village of Carbon call 403.572-3436. Hours: Sun - Wed:12pm -9pm, Thurs - Sat: 12pm - 11pm.

Mikey's Place will accept take-out orders only and strictly implements that only 1 person per family or group come inside the restaurant to place or pick up orders. Call 403.572.2362.
