Weekly Activities/Programs

Activities with the Social Work Interns & Crissy/Maddie Join us most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 pm for a special activity with our social work interns, Jackie, Lacy and Shelby or our staff, Crissy and Maddie. Activities could include cooking projects, arts and crafts projects or games.

Tournament Wednesdays Most Wednesdays at 4:00 pm, the Teen Center staff will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K18 or Rocket League. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

Open early for D63 early dismissal days/ HS finals Approximately once a month, D63 has an early dismissal for students for teacher in-service training. On these days, the Teen Center will be open at 11:45 am. The teen center will also open at 1:00 pm during final for Maine East High School students.

Bring a Friend Fridays On a selected Friday each month, if a current member brings a friend as a guest, both teens will receive a free soda and bag of chips. If the guest, purchases a membership, the current member and new member will receive a $5 gift certificate for a local store (like Subway or Gloria Jeans Coffee) or $10 to Kappy’s Restaurant.

3rd Annual “TC Late Night Party” Come to the Teen Center for our 3rd Annual “TC Late Night Party” for a night of fun! Activities will include pizza and soda, a movie,

organized games and tournament, DIY crafts and lots of hang-out time. This event will be supervised by staff and volunteers from the Niles Teen Center. “TC Late Night Party” is open to Teen Center members only. You must be a TC member by Thursday, June 6. You must turn in a Teen Trip form and money at the time of sign-up to guar-antee your spot. Space is limited to 50 teens; sign up now!!!

Teen Speaker Series All Teen Center members are invited to attend these educational and fun programs by from area community members. Thursday, March 14- 5:00-6:00 pm- Magic of Gary Kantor Gary will offer a demonstration of some magic tricks and slight of hand. If you’re lucky, he may even teach you how to do some tricks yourself!!

Thursday, April 18- 5:00-6:00 pm- Get a Job??- Laura Cook- D207 Laura Cook, the Career Coordinator for High School District 207, will offer a presentation on how to find and get your first job. She will discuss how to find a summer job, how to apply and interview for the job. She will also discuss benefits of summer work experiences for your future career choices. Thursday, May 23- 5:00-6:00 pm- Rhythm Revolution Drum Circle Join John Yost of Rhythm Revolution in an interactive music making

session. Learn a little about drums and percussion instruments and have fun learning to Jam with your friends. No experience necessary.

Spring 2019

Escape Room (Spring Break) Join us as we try to become real life escape artist at the Escape Room in Schaumburg, IL! We will need your help to try and break out of one of their themed rooms.

Be sure to bring extra money as we will be stopping for lunch on the way home. Price includes transportation and supervision. This trip will depart from the Maine Park Leisure Center in Park Ridge. Windy City Ninjas Trip (No School- Spring Break) Join us as we travel to Windy City Ninjas in Elmhurst, IL! They will provide coaches in the gym to instruct, guide and spot the kids through multiple obstacle circuits (each circuit is 7 - 10 diff obstacles) for ~ 60 minutes. Then for 15 minutes we will run a team ninja warrior competition, dividing into two teams and they race identical obstacle courses against each other. Finally, for the last 15 minutes we do a combina-

Homework Assistance: Having trouble with your Math homework? Need some ideas for a Social Studies, Science or Literature project? Struggling with scholarship or university applications? The knowledgeable Teen Center staff is available to offer academic assistance for all middle school and high school students. We will also offer volunteer tutors (days and times are to be determined).

Register your Bicycle: Protect your bike from thieves by registering it with the Niles Police Department! Every year the Niles Police Department accumulates a number of lost or stolen bikes and is forced to sell them at an auction because their owners cannot be identified. When you register, your bicycle’s information is entered into a national database allowing the Police Department to contact you if it is ever lost or stolen. So don’t be left walking while someone else rides away on your bike. Register your bike through the Niles Teen Center or Niles Police Department.

Community Service Hours: Attention High School & College Students: If you need community service hours for a club, organization or leader-ship position, the Teen Center can provide the opportunity to earn those credits through role modeling, tutoring or assisting with special events. Talk to Mark to see what options we can offer.

Emergency or Off-Site Events: If there is an emergency, an off-site event or you need immediate attention, please call the Teen Center main line 847-588-6900 and select option (1). This will connect you directly to the Director or

In-House Movie Nights Come to the Teen Center for Teen Movie Nights. Stop by or call to recommend a teen movie. All movies will be PG or PG-13. Bring a pillow or blanket and make yourself at home. Additional snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.
