Since childhood, I promised myself not to take a teaching career when I grew up. Simply because I don'tlike teaching. My mother who happened to be a teacher wasn't enough reason that could induce me toget a teaching course; hence I planned to take nursing since it arouses my interest. When I graduated from high school, I thought everything was settled. o my dismay, my parents insistedthat I must take !ducation. I was alarmed. " big #$ kept entering my mind. I tried to argue but nothing

happened. My parents claimed that they knew better what's best for me. I then found myself complyinglike a marionette to wahtever my folks told me to do.I enrolled in %achelor of Secondary !ducation with a heavy heart. #ever did it eneter my mind that I'mgonna be a teacher someday. he cliche &like mother, like daughter& didn't convince me at all. I believedthat I would never be as good as my mom when it comes to teaching.

onestly speaking, I didn't en(oy the first ) years of my life in the academe. I felt pressured. aking up acourse in which your heart is not into it is very hard to do. ow am I going to en(oy my studying if my heartis not within the course I'm taking up* + ee-, It sucks, you know...I tried a thousand times not to get annoyed with my parents but the more I tried to do so, the more Iwanted to rebel. "t first, I decided not to take seriously my studies. Why not* " happy thought entered my

feeble shell. &I'll make myself free as a bird this time. I will live out of pressures, oh yeah/& My parents sentme to school with an e0cessive allowance, e0pecting that I was giving all my best in my studies. %ut thetruth is I was not.

his was me until I met him 1 the teacher with a heart. 2es, that's the way I call and describe him becausehe really has the big heart for his students. e'd changed my views in learning. !very time he teaches hee0claims that teaching is the noblest profession thus in taking it up you must also have the nobleintention. rue enough, I felt shame in myself. It seemed that he was attacking me indirectly.$ne night, I found a hard time to get asleep. 3ying on my bed while ga-ing at the ceiling I asked myselfon how do I feel now towards my profession* 4nfortunately I couldn't find an answer.5ays passed by and my admiration to the way he teaches grew bigger and bigger. Many things I hadlearned from him. e used to say that as a teacher, you could not give what you do not have. hat's thereason why they say &once a teacher, always a student.& " teacher shouldn't stop from learning becausethe bulk of knowledge he ac6uires is what he will share with his students.&" good teacher recogni-es that each student has a different talent lying hidden and une0plored. is dutyis to unearth it and help it blossom.& his I remembered once he said. I had witnessed how heencouraged his students to bring out the best in them. #o doubt, he is really a remarkable dot in his everystudent's hearts for he always gets the chance to be a part of them.&%e prepared.& "s a teacher you can't also escape from e0periencing guilt feelings7 ma0ima culpa......whenever you think you've given your best in teaching but reali-ed that you failed at the end...whenever you try to discipline your students but e0perienced culpa when you hurt them by accident...whenever you commit mistakes but forgot to correct them

...whenever you commit nepotism unknowingly that caused (ealousy among other students

....whenever you re(ect students' responses (ust to find out lately that they were correct5espite of these mea culpas, I've learned from him that everybody is entitled to commit mistakes. olearn from them to become a better you1a better teacher is what matters.

"nd now that I'm already given the chance to put into actual practice what I've learned, I reali-e thecertainty of his words. !very time I am in front of my students I understand very well how noble theteaching profession is. #oble for you are educating people at the same time you become a part of them
