This amazing international event will simply not happen without the hundreds of volunteers like you, so we would like to say a huge thank you for joining the team! Its going to take a wide range of individual skills to transform Westmorland Showground into our international Scouing village for seven days. We would like to start by saying welcome to the Red Rose 2014 team. This amazing international event will simply not happen without the hundreds of volunteers like you, so we would like to say a huge thank you for joining the team! Confirming your place on the team… Before we can guarantee your place on the event you will need to fully register by following this link: www.redrose.org.uk/staff/book. We also need a £15 deposit per person. Once your payment is received you will receive a receipt by email and your place will be confirmed. Deposit payments are due no later than 31st March 2014, however to avoid disappointment it is advised you get these to us as soon as possible. As previously stated, your places are not guaranteed without a deposit. Deposits paid are non-refundable. How to pay? Please make cheques payable to ‘West Lancashire Scout Council Expedition’ and write your name and role on the back. Mega Meet…  Due to its success last time round we have decided to do another Mega Meet.

2

It will be on the 29th and 30th March 2014 so put it in your diary now! It will be held at Westmorland Show Ground the home of RR2014 and there will be dinner, camping and breakfast provided on the Saturday night & Sunday Morning. Mega Meet is a fantastic opportunity to come and see the site, meet your team and learn all about RR2014. It is also free of charge! All you need is your tent, a packed lunch for the Saturday and your own drink for the Saturday night. The HR team is also planning some evening entertainment!

Staff registration… If you know someone who wants to come as staff on RR2014 but they haven’t received this email then it means they haven’t registered!!! To register their interest they need to go to www.redrose.org.uk/staff/register/ and complete the online form. We currently have over 200 staff who have registered their interest so if you want to come you need to get a move on! Likewise, if you have registered but are no longer able to come please let s know by emailing [email protected]

Meet the team… Camp Chief Simon McGlen [email protected] Simon is the public face of Red Rose 2014.

Previous international experience includes Red Rose 2000, 2004, 2010, Canada 1997, Austria 1998, Explorer Belt 2002, Uganda 2005 and Canada 2008! He is County Explorer Scout Leader in West Lancs and AESL at Mungo Park in Preston District. Simon is married to Bev has three step sons, a daughter in law and  Granddaughter He works at GB  Railfreight as a Rail Operator and West Coast Railways as a passenger Guard: "Railways are a full-time job and hobby, thoroughly enjoy my work". Simon enjoys walking and history.

Camp Chair Nick Kasmir [email protected] Nick has overall

responsibility for the delivery of Red Rose 2014. He brings with him experience as finance director of the previous Red Rose and as a member of staff in 2000 and 2004. Nick is a County Scout Leader and organises the annual West Lancs Scout Section County Rally camp for 1000+ Scouts.

Head of Infrastucture Andy Neville [email protected] Andy lives in Blackpool

and is part of 1st Bispham scout group. He is also on the service crew at Waddecar Scout Camp. He has attended 2 world scout jamboree s and this is his 4th Redrose camp. Andy is responsible for everything infrastructure related on RR2014 from sound and lighting to Site Services and Waste Management.

Head of HR Charlotte Moul [email protected] Charlotte is responsible for the happiness and

welfare of all the staff on Red Rose 2014 and is also the Staff Sub-Camp Chief. This will be Charlotte's third Red Rose camp and her second as part of the HR team. Charlotte's first international scouting experience was as a young scout when she went to Holland with Preston District and she loved it so much she went back and completed her Explorer belt there more than 10 years later. Charlotte is a Young Leader Coordinator for Preston District and is also SplAShU and Paddlesport Treasurer. She brings her experience as HR Manager for Frankie and Benny’s Restaurants.

Head of Communications Mike Nolan [email protected] Mike Nolan is responsible for marketing and

communications on Red Rose. This covers everything from the website to camp newspapers. He attended his first Red Rose as a wee Scout in 1994 and was back in 2000 and 2010 as staff. Michael is an Explorer Scout Leader in Ormskirk District and works at Edge Hill University where he is Head of Web Services.

Head of Logistics Ray Fitzsinnons [email protected] Ray is responsible for ensuring that Campers

Needs, Catering, Transport, First Aid and Safety & Security are all arranged to the highest standard at Red Rose 2014. As a retired Police Inspector Ray has experience of planning events and operations ranging from the Open Golf Championship at Royal Birkdale to local charity events and anti crime initiatives. A keen mountaineer he was one of the original organisers for our annual winter "Snow and Ice" Mountaineering Programme in the Cairngorm Mountains, now in its 15th year and was Base Camp manager for the month long mountaineering expeditions by West Lancs Scouts in Greenland in 2004 and 2007. Ray's first major camp was as a parent helper at Red Rose 1994 and is still actively involved as Assistant GSL with his local group, 1st Ormskirk. As well as being a keen fly fisherman he has been an Indian food fanatic and "Curry Chef" for over 30 years!

Head of Finance Sarah Moore [email protected] Sarah is in charge of making sure everything gets paid for combining

her real job as an Accountant with Torotrak PLC with her love for

Head of Administration Stacey White [email protected] Stacey has been Scouting all her life having

followed the family trait. She was ACC Explorers in Greater Manchester North for five years and has recently taken on the exciting role of ACC Development. Stacey will reprise her role from Red Rose 2010 as Head of Admin. She could tell you her day job, but she'd have to kill you!

international Scouting. Sarah has attended the last two Moot's and has travelled extensively around Europe with Scouts. Sarah splits her Scouting commitments between West Lancashire and Greater Manchester West as a Beaver Scout Leader at Anderton St Joseph's in Chorley and 100th Salford St Lukes.

Head of Programme Stuart Dean [email protected] Stuart has overall

responsibility for delivering the programme for the camp. He is lucky enough to have the support of a great team of instructors and helpers in a wide variety of activities to enable this to happen. He was one of the programme managers for Red Rose 2010, and was an instructor at Red Rose 2004, although his association with event goes back to his time as a Venture Scout in 1982! Amongst his roles in Scouting he is the County Paddlesport advisor and member of Splahu.
