PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION COMPANY A production company vitally helps to create the magazine by

assisting with budgets, schedules, etc. They watch over the magazine from start off to finish.

A distribution company’s job is to spread out the magazine into the world so that audience are able to but and read it. They have to determine the amount of magazine copies that are going to be made so as to ensure there are enough copies for distribution.

The magazine might then be shown to prospective buyers/my target audience. Then the magazine gets sent out to vendors shortly before its due date. After the vendors display the magazines and people have bought them, it gets sent back to the distributors and a payment is made.

For my magazine, the money calculated for the budget might come from sponsors, the company owners, and companies which want to be featured in the magazine.

The names of the people which appear on my contents page done something recently that has got the music world thinking on. A music magazine which I would say is similar to mine institutionally would be RESPECT. Magazine-they kept things simple and yet different which attracts a certain audience, yet they still attract a good amount of audience., which is one of the reasons why I feel they would be published in a similar way to my music magazine.

Condé Nast

My first institution choice is Condé Nast, they’re a division of Advance Publications, they’re a mass media company based in the Condé Nast Building in New York City. They have a branch in London. This company has over 164 million consumers worldwide, brands like: Allure, GQ, WIRED, Vanity Fair, Vogue.

They were founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast, it’s has since been owned by the Newhouse family as of 1959. The company started off with Condé Nast Entertainment in 2011 to develop film, television and digital video programming.

I selected this media institution to distribute their product because I know they are well experienced, they distribute fashionable, stylish, artistic magazines. They distribute for various consumers of different interest like, fashion, sports, style, and lifestyle, so I feel selecting them as an institution to distribute my magazine is just what they need to broaden their business successfully, also, I feel my magazine style, design, contents and layout is something in which they have never tried before but would fit right in with the types of magazines they distribute.

“Over the past twenty years, Condé Nast has reached record profits, tripling its topline growth and exponentially expanding its content distribution. During the same period, the company earned more editorial, design, digital, advertising, video and business awards than any competitor in the industry.”

By selecting Condé Nast as my distributor gives 808 magazine a stable, steady and comfortable platform in which their business is able to grow and the ability to be creative and original with the music magazine would follow through.

HEARST CORPORATION My second and favorite institution choice Hearst Corporation is a

multinational mass media group situated in the Hearst Tower in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was founded by William Randolph Hearst as an owner of newspapers, the company has since then expanded to a company which distributes highly diversified portfolios of media works: Hearst Television, Hearst Magazines, Hearst Ventures, etc.

They are one of the biggest diversified communication companies in the world with a revenue of around $9 billion dollars. Their major projects include 15 daily and 36 weekly newspapers, with more than 300 magazines worldwide, this includes Cosmopolitan, O, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle; 29 television station via Hearst Television.

Hearst Magazines UK is a subsidiary of Hearst Corporation, the largest digital publisher in the UK, they are able to reach up to 1 in 3 UK women and 1 in 4 UK adults with a portfolio of 19 magazines and 26 websites including brands like. ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, via various platforms. They are able to reach more than 12.1 million adults in print and more than 43 million unique users online within a month.

By selecting Hearst Corporation as my distributor gives 808 magazine a great advantage with a stable, steady and comfortable platform with a successful company in which the magazine is able to gain a lot of profit from and still maintain the freedom to be creative and original with the music magazine. I would also select this company to distribute my magazine as they are highly experienced, they are able to reach over a million people per month, this allows my magazine to be widely spread across the country and world, especially in the United States were their main base is.

Finally Hearst Corporation are known to distribute high quality magazines which are stylish and unique, this also fits right in with my music magazine and my target audience, by them distributing my magazine it broadens the range of media interests which they distribute and the target audience in which they are able to provide to.
