What is TALIA?TALIA (Territorial Appropriaon of Leading-edge Innovaon Acons) builds and develops the Social & Creave community of the InterregMED Programme by orchestrang the progress and results of individual projects within the Priority Axis specifically related to Cultural and Creave Industries on the one hand, and Social Innovaon (Open Data, Social Entrepreneurship and Public Sector Innovaon) on the other.
One of the 4 Priority Axes in the InterregMED Programme aims to increase the transnaonal acvity of innovave clusters and networks of key sectors of the MED area.
The starng point are the individual MED projects of this Axis, dealing with cultural and creave industries, open data, social enterprises, and instuonal innovaon, which are structured according to a ‘modular’ approach, namely addressing one or more of the steps of: Studying, Tesng and Capitalising.
TALIA gathers all modular projects within communies of pracce based on their commonalies to support joint transnaonal communicaon and capitalisaon acons.
INNOVATION
TALIA is also responsible for the construcon and development of the MED Social & Creave community, including the modular projects addressing the topics of Cultural and Creave Industries and Social Innovaon.
The goal is to acvate synergies between public and private actors and to improve and expand the scope of the knowledge and results generated by their interacon.
SOCIAL & CREATIVE
TALIA considers creavity and social innovaon the enabling forces for prosperity and well-being in the MED space, in line with EU 2020 as well as the specific potenals of the Mediterranean itself. This in a context of “territorial innovaon”, where innovaon is built on the territorial capital specific to a given place or the Mediterranean as a whole.
TALIA operates on 3 learning loops concerning projects, programmes and policies, to co-develop a Mediterranean model for creavity and innovaon directly with the territorial actors and stakeholders concerned. This policy learning process can then feed into the implementaon of regional Smart Specialisaon Strategies.
Thanks to a dedicated plaorm with data mining and social networking characteriscs, regional programme managers and policy makers will be allowed to ground their iniaves on available evidence as well as map their efforts with respect to each other and to a common policy message across the industries and themac sectors addressed.
Concretely, TALIA carries out the main acvies foreseen by the MED Programme through three strands of acon:
Engagement and supportLiaison and interacon with modular projects and their local and transnaonal networks, with the purpose of community building as well as helping them to interact with each other and their target audiences.
CommunicationThis includes web and social media-like spaces for interacon and disseminaon among researchers, praconers, and policy makers, as well as regular events at the local and naonal levels.
Attaining impactThis involves the idenficaon of opportunies to extend the most prominent project results across the MED space and the EU themac policy agendas, through policy briefings and roadmaps contribung to key debates in naonal and internaonal fora, with a clear focus on sustainability.
In this way, TALIA inter-connects the innovaon clusters developed within themac modular projects to create a transnaonal meta-cluster of creavity and social innovaon in the Mediterranean.

What is the Interreg MED Programme? Partners from 13 countries are working together in the transnaonal European Cooperaon Programme for the Mediterranean area, the Interreg MED Programme 2014-2020. The transnaonal setup allows them to tackle challenges beyond naonal borders, such as the rise of low carbon economy, the protecon of natural and cultural resources and the strengthening of innovaon.
The main objecve of the Interreg MED Programme is to promote sustainable growth in the Mediterranean area by fostering innovave concepts and pracces and a reasonable use of resources and by supporng social integraon through an integrated and territorially based cooperaon approach.
