Studying how stress works on an individual is but one of the many facets of psychology.

Psychology deals with the thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and all about the mind of a human being. Psychologists look at how individuals or groups of individuals interact with others, and their natural reactions as a result of those interactions.

Should certain problems arise, people usually approach trained professionals like psychologists and counsellors to talk about their experiences hoping to arrive at an amiable solution after the discussions. Depending on the gravity of the problem being presented, discussions with a counsellor or a psychologist may extend to several sessions. Some clients may even require medications to help them cope with the current situation.

There are certain factors that may lead to developing stress, and usually it comes from within the individual himself. One of those is “fear” or the response to an actual event that is happening at a particular moment. Two others that may act in unison are “worry” and “anxiety”.

Anxiety may be explained as a natural response to activities that are imagined or anticipated of happening in the near future.

The process of dwelling or continuously thinking about a given situation leads to the physical manifestation of stress. The body’s adrenal glands release and pump adrenaline into the system which evidently speeds up the heartbeat and breathing. This, in turn, causes the body to sweat and prepares itself either to face the situation or run from it.
