Art
LC: I can experiment with coffee to create paint, incorporating a range of shading in my artwork.
Today we will be making our own paint using coffee and warm water. How can you create different hues of colour in your artwork?
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ADULT TO HELP YOU WHEN USING WARM WATER.
ACTIVITY
You can use both instant and regular coffee to paint with. Dissolve some instant coffee in warm water. Change the coffee/water ratio to achieve a lighter or richer colour. Darker hues will require less water than the lighter shades.
Create your own piece of artwork (you could sketch your design in pencil first). Then paint using the coffee paint you have made. See below for some examples of artwork created with coffee.
Challenge
Could you add some salt or coffee grounds to create texture to your paint?
You will need:
· Paper
· Pencil
· Coffee (Instant/grounds)
· Warm water
· Small pot or bowl
· Paint brush (if you don’t have a brush, you could use your finger)
