Deagan: What is Hauora? Room 10s Building InquiryDani: Room 10 decided we wanted to make a Hauora Marea so we could understand Hauora better1Step 1:Planning: What parts do we need to make our Hauora Marae?

Deagan: First we had to plan the different parts we needed to make our Hauora MaraeDani: We needed four parts to make the mental and emotional, the social, the physical and the spirtual wellbeings 2

Step 2:Cutting up the Wood: With the help of Mr Gover and Mr Glover

Deagan: Cutting the wood- We took the wood to mr Glovers workshop and got it cut into piecesDani: Mr Gover showed us how to use a saw to get the right lengths3Step 3:Labelling the Parts: Mr Gover showed us that we need to label the parts, so we know how to match each piece up

Deagan: Labelling the parts. Mr gover showed us that we needed to label the parts so we knew how to match each piece up correctlyDani: Then every piece matched up perfectly4Step 4:Gluing and Nailing: To get our frame ready, we glued the sides together and then nailed them

Deagan: Then it was time to glue and nail the joints upDani: This helped us when nailing the piece, because it was nice and sturdy.5

Step 5:Power Tools Time: Time to get a support frame in- and screw it all together to keep it strong and sturdy!

Deagan: Power Tools Time! We got to use Mr Govers drill to screw the sides into a frameDani: It was so much fun, we all had a turn and it made our Hauora Whare so strong!6

Step 6:Roof Shout: Time to get the roof on! Make sure its on the right angle!

Deagan: Roof Shout! Then it was time to put on our roofDani: this was hard we had to make sure it was on the right angle7Step 7:Adding Design Details: We need a Tiki and some Maori Designs- like on a real Marae!

Deagan: Now it was built it was time to add some Maori detailDani: Miss Southon put the tiki and patterns on the projector so we could trace them onto wall paperDeagan: This was to make it look like a real Marae8

Step 8:Staining the Wood: We need the wood to last and to look brown like a Marea!

Dani: Then it was timeto stain the wood to make it look like a maraeDeagan: This was messy! But look how cool it looks now!9

Step 9:Putting it all Together: Time to add the Designs

Dani: Putting it all together! Now it was time to put all the cool designs on to the MaraeDeagan: We had to glue and staple them on.10Step 10:Labelling the Parts : Label all the parts or our Hauora

Dani: Then we had to label the parts of HauoraDeagan: This was to help us remember all of the parts we need for our well-being11Come check it out in Room10!
