what is acusaac?
DESCRIPTION
2011 First ACUSAAC Meeting MaterialsTRANSCRIPT
The purpose of SAAC at ACU is two-fold. First and foremost, SAAC serves as a liaison to the athletic
administration at ACU, ensuring student-athletes have a voice in all issues impacting their overall experience and welfare. Secondly, SAAC serves as a leadership group
recruiting fellow student- athletes to serve the campus and
community through a variety of service programs.
The Abilene Christian University
Athletic Department takes great pride in the
accomplishments and contributions of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Meetings
Meetings will be held weekly on Tuesday’s during chapel in Teague. A
short 2-3 minute devotional or “Good Things” will be lead by a committee
member at the start of each meeting. The group will come together for
weekly announcements (“The Agenda”) and discussion.
Members will then break into sub-committees to spend
approximately 10-20 minutes at each meeting to outline
issues and plans. Meetings will conclude and sub-
committees will report back to the group for an overall
discussion and end-action.

Structure SAAC will continue forward as a group and committee, however, these sub-committees will provide an organizational structure
to our group and allow us to more effectively work together.
• Marketing/Fundraising This committee leads in marketing the events and projects we have and report back to the group weekly, bi-weekly, or
monthly (depending on the event or project) in ideas and ways to continue to not only fundraise, but to promote
upcoming sporting events and several initiatives implemented to foster campus and community integration
• Community Engagement
This committee continues to lead our group in the various community activities and projects we participate in throughout
the year. Being able to continually look for ways to support our community; thus, our student-athletes and staff must be
willing to lend a helping hand. The leadership of the group and our student-athletes is key to know how important it is to
support the community that, in turn, supports both the student-athlete’s education and collegiate sports career.
• Student-Athlete Welfare The committee deals with changes, issues, and suggestions concerning the NCAA, and/or ACU Athletic Department. Shall
help with the overall and organization and communication between the members of athletic teams and SAAC.
The committee assesses and finds ways to help promote and unify student-athletes together on issues regarding events,
community in schools partnership, career development, and other various projects regarding those on campus.
• Campus and Team Integration The Committee will discuss the concepts of a campus-wide divide between athletes and non-athletes and will be
committed to fostering a campus-wide conversation on ways to improve the issue.
The Committee will continue to integrate ways to connect our student-athletes with other student-athletes and their
respective athletic teams.
