A sound designer may need to come up with ideas for tracks and record sections of them in a studio environment with different instruments. He/she must also gather any sound generating props, mostly to assist him/her when trying to create sound with Foley artistry. Every sound designer must have a good understanding of quality control to ensure that all sounds work for production and have an understanding of pre- production techniques. They must have good system management as they will be working with a large amount of technology which ca edit music; adjust fade between different sections of a track and edit the pitch of different sounds which have been recorded if necessary communications skills as they will work closely with other teams such as the art team and the programming team. The ability to edit; integrate and sequence sound, are some of the things that a sound designer must do. Sometimes a sound designer will develop their own software, which they will later use when recording certain sounds or even to be used for every piece of recording that they will be doing for a project. Knowledge about modifying sound is key to a sound designer as they will work alongside sound engineers to record; edit and adjust different sounds that have been made, and put them together into a track. Before they begin deciding what hardware and software they need, a sound designer must come up with different ideas for different sound tracks that will be played in a project, for this they must think about different aspects of the project at hand.

What is a sound designer?

A sound designer is responsible for managing a team of sound engineers as well as recording sound using different methods like field recording and Foley artistry. A sound designer may need to come up with ideas for tracks and record sections

of them in a studio environment with different instruments. He/she must also gather any sound generating props, mostly to assist him/her when trying to create sound with Foley artistry. Every sound designer must have a good

understanding of quality control to ensure that all sounds work for production and have an understanding of pre-production techniques.

They must have good system management as they will be working with a large amount of technology which ca edit music; adjust fade between different sections of a track and edit the pitch of different sounds which have been

recorded if necessary communications skills as they will work closely with other teams such as the art team and the programming team. The ability to edit;

integrate and sequence sound, are some of the things that a sound designer must do.
