Beauty Is Only Skin D
eepSarah is a happy, intelligent 12-year-old girl w
ho has been disfigured since birth by a terrible birth defect. She recently m
oved to your school, and your friends are saying m
ean things about her appearance. But you’re m
aking friends w
ith Sarah and want to show
your friends how
hurtful their words are.
What w

is water the plants in the Flagstone
Com
pany’s lobby, and then walk through
the offices making sure the com
puters and copy m
achines are turned off. It takes three hours once a w
eek, and you get paid $50 a w
eek! The catch is that you have to do the job on Sunday m
ornings, so you’ll miss
church. You love to worship G
od, but this is really great m

Getting elected student council president
wasn’t that big a deal at first, but now
that your cam
paign is up and running, you want
it bad. Your friends tell you that just talking about w
hat you’ll do as president isn’t enough. You m
ust compare yourself w
ith your opponent and prove you’re a better person. It’s a w
eek before the election, and your last chance to talk at a school assem
-bly. W
hat will you say?

Keeping promises is a great habit to form
. It allows people to
trust you and helps you become a person of integrity. This w
eek, place a jar on your kitchen table. A
nnounce that it’s “Prom
ise-Keeping Week,”
and every time som
eone in your fam
ily breaks a promise,
that person has to put a quarter into the jar. H
ow
many quarters do you
think will accum
ulate in a w
eek? When the w
eek has ended, give the m
oney to a w
orthy cause, and ask G
od to help you keep prom
ises alw
ays.
God
had promised a flood to end all floods. A
nd for
many years N
oah faithfully built an ark, trusting
God w
ould keep his promise. W
hen the flood
finally came, it did everything G
od had promised.
And the ark did everything G
od had promised.
When the w
aters receded, Noah and his fam
ily left
the ark only to discover God giving them
another promise: N
ever again would
God destroy the entire earth w
ith a flood.
