What is Palm Sunday?Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. 7 days before we celebrate His resurrection (Easter/Resurrection Day). As Jesus entered Jerusalem, He was approaching the cross, to fulfill His ministry to save a lost and dying world. His time was at hand. Palm Sunday is the start of the Passion Week.

How important is it? It was so important to Jesus that he wept over it, and held them accountable to know the exact day;NAU Luke 19:41 When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. 43 "For the days shall come upon you when your enemies will throw up a bank before you, and surround you, and hem you in on every side, 44 and will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."Psalm 95:8, John 12:38, Romans 11:7, 11:25, Deuteronomy 32:28-29

Zechariah 9:9Humble And Mounted On A Donkey

John 12:14 Matthew 21:2

Why is it important? The Bible predicted it over 500 years beforeNAU Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.The exact day was foretold in Daniel 9:24-29The next three slides are clipped from, http://www.khouse.org/enews_article/2016/2487/

Daniel 9:24-29, The 69 Weeks, Gabriels Zinger, khouse.orgDaniel, originally deported as a teenager (now near the end of the Babylonian captivity), was reading in the Book of Jeremiah. He understood that the seventy years of servitude were almost over and he began to pray for his people. The Angel Gabriel interrupted Daniels prayer and gave him a four-verse prophecy that is unquestionably the most remarkable passage in the entire Bible: Daniel 9:2427. These four verses include the following segments:9:24 The Scope of the entire prophecy;9:25 The 69 Weeks;9:26 An Interval between the 69th and 70th Week;9:27 The 70th Week.

Daniel 9:24-29, The 69 Weeks, Gabriels Zinger, khouse.orgThis includes a mathematical prophecy. The Jewish (and Babylonian) calendars used a 360-day year; 69 weeks of 360-day years totals 173,880 days. The commandment to restore and build Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes Longimanus March 14, 445, B.C. This was first identified in Sir Robert Andersons classic work, The Coming Prince, first published in 1894. (The emphasis in the verse on the street and the wall was to avoid confusion with other earlier mandates confined to rebuilding the Temple.) But when did the Messiah present Himself as a King? During the ministry of Jesus Christ there were several occasions in which the people attempted to promote Him as king, but He carefully avoided it. Mine hour is not yet come. When we examine the period between March 14, 445 B.C. and April 6, 32 A.D., and correct for leap years, we discover that it is 173,880 days exactly, to the very day!

How do we know its important? It's re-counted in all four Gospels!Matt 21:1-11Mark 11:1-10Luke 19:28-44John 12:12-15The green underlined in the next verses is to highlight unique parts of each account;

Matt 21:1-11Matt 21:1-11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away. 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'" 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!" 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?" 11 The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."

Mark 11:1-10Mark 11:1-10 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.'" 4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, "What are you doing, untying that colt?" 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" 10 "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! "Hosanna in the highest!" (NIV)

Luke 19:28-44Luke 19:28-40, After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 "Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.'" 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?" 34 They replied, "The Lord needs it." 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: 38 "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" 40 "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

John 12:12-16NAU John 12:1 Jesus, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 3 Marycostly perfume 11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus. 12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel." 14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15 "FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY'S COLT." 16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

Luke 19:40 Habakkuk 2:11stones will cry out!How important it is Palm Sunday and the celebration of Christs triumphal entry?NAU Luke 19:40 But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"NAU Habakkuk 2:11 "Surely the stone will cry out from the wall, And the rafter will answer it from the framework.

Luke 19:37, Blessed Is The KingNAU Luke 19:37 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, 38 shouting: "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest! [I could only find this in Luke] 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."

Luke 19:38, Why The King?Why did the people (and the Holy Spirit who inspired Luke to record it) add the King when king is not used in Psalm 118?NAU Matthew 21:5 "SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, 'BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.'"NAU Psalm 118:26 Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD; We have blessed you from the house of the LORD.There are commandments to not add to the Word of God in both the OT and NT;Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs 30:6, Revelation 22:18
