Summary:

First, your soul separates from your body and your soul goes to heaven or hell. God decides whether you should be rewarded or punished. Most people need to be purified after they die. This process is called purification. Even if people are good and die in a state of friendship with God they still have to be purified after they die. No one is perfect except for Jesus, who went to heaven with His body and soul and didn’t need to be purified because He is perfect. The people who are beyond bad are sent straight to hell.

A special bond connects the living and the dead, which is the reason why Catholics pray for the dead. We call this bond the Communion of Saints.

The Kingdom of God is a time not a place. When God feels that your time has come, if you think about it, it really is a time and not a place.
