MAG Field Trip every Friday

No School on Wednesday, Nov. 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day

Report Cards go home the week of Nov. 16th

Thanksgiving Recess: Nov. 25-27

ELA: In ELA this week, we discussed physical environments around the world. We showed examples of different physical maps and identified map keys and compass roses. We read “Waiting for the Biblioburro” and wrote the gist and completed the SIWBS graphic organizer.

Science : In science, we focused on animals and their parts. We discussed how animals use certain structures on their bodies to help them survive. We also discussed how animals move to get what they need from their environment. Next week we will be welcoming our Classroom Critters!!

Math: This week in math we worked on solving two- step word problems involving multiplication and division. We also practiced writing an explanation to go along with our work. In addition to word problems, we wrapped up our first Module.

We took a practice test and then took the End-of-the Module test today. The next Module will continue to focus on multiplication and division.

Social Studies: We continued our land features discussion. We identified major landforms, including river, bay, island, mountain, isthmus, hill, plateau and canyon. Students drew pictures to match new vocabulary words and read “An Introduction to Landforms” and marked up the text.

Writer’s Workshop: We continued with our narrative genre. We continued editing and revising our “seed idea” stories, by adding dialogue and strong leads. Next week, we will revisit the rubric and narrative checklist and finish up editing and revising our narrative pieces.

Thank you to all of the families who donated a treat for our Halloween celebration!! Have a fantastic time this weekend and be safe!

Reminders: Please be sure that

your child is in uniform each day.
