WHAT IS A PRONOUN?

• It is a word that replaces a name.

•Eg. He, she, we

She refers to Cindy.

Adjectives describe the nouns and pronouns.An adjective is usually placed in front of the noun or

pronoun.Examples : a beautiful girl.A round ball.Green grass.

Adjectives in the negative form usually get a prefix .

Sometimes we use two words together to describe a noun. We call these Compound adjectives.

Examples : the big grey bear.Most of the time compound adjectives have a hyphen in between them.The four-legged bird.

Conjunctions are words that join parts of a sentence together.

ExampleJohn and Harry like steak, but Mpho prefers

What Is an Adverb?•An adverb is a word used to modify a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. For example: She swims quickly.

•To find the adverb we ask the following questions.

•When: He ran yesterday.•Where: He ran here.•How often: He ran daily.•How much: He ran fastest.
