WHAT A PERSONALITY ARE YOU?

August 6, 2015 13 comments

Sometime ago, I was invited to attend a high profile Clinton lo!al Initiative meeting in "ew#or$ Cit%& 'e met to e(change ideas a!out solving glo!al pro!lems& At this meeting of the

world)s most powerful people, I conversed with people li$e *adeleine Al!right, Colin +owell,

ichard -ranson, -ill ates, 'arren -uffet, the ma%or of .ondon, /ngland, former eads of

States& +eople li$e esmond utu of South Africa and man% other such leaders&

/ver%where I turned, there was a recognia!le person& he setting was so informal that %ou

could wal$ up to an%one and introduce %ourself, which I did& -ut as I loo$ed around, I saw ver%

few church leaders& In fact, I can onl% recall seeing one other +astor there& he +astor of a large

and well $nown church, in the 4nited States&

uring the entire event, I wondered wh% this was so& I found m% answer while tal$ing to former

+resident -ill Clinton& I wanted to $now wh% I had !een invited, so I as$ed him how he heard

a!out me and what I had done to merit !eing with all these !ona fide leaders& e told me, I$now a!out %ou& I li$e what I read a!out %ou and I love what %ou are doing& is answer spo$e

volumes to me a!out the state of the church&

I had !een invited !ecause he had read a!out our church& If our church was onl% solving internal

church dispute and concentrating on personal growth, no!od% would have cared a!out me& -ut !ecause we have stepped into the $ingdom role od has called us to, I was counted among the

most powerful people in the world for at least those few da%s&

It was a privilege to participate in that summit, !ut it also !ro$e m% heart& I nearl% wept at how

irrelevant Christians have !ecome& -elievers !% and large are so !uried in their churches thatthe% are invisi!le to the rest of the world& 'e disengage from the world and still claim to !e

doing $ingdom wor$& /ven worse is how we criticie people who are doing $ingdom wor$&

+eople li$e -ill Clinton and roc$ star -ono, are putting $ingdom principles to wor$, %et people

condemn -ono !ecause, he does not act li$e American evangelicals& he% also criticie Clintonat an% opportunit%, !ecause the% don)t li$e his politics or personal !ehavior& -ono)s effort has

resulted in !illions of dollars, going towards povert% a!atement programs and Clinton)s lo!al

Initiative is addressing pro!lems od wants solved7 alleviating povert%, improving health,

stopping religious and ethnic conflicts and ta$ing proper care of the earth&

'e ma% disagree with their means of solving these pro!lems, !ut most church leaders have not

even addressed these issues& he%)re on the side lines, in fact the% are not even in the stadium&

“Social responsibility becomes an aspect not of Christian mission only, but also of Christian

conversion. It is impossible to be truly converted to God without being thereby converted to

our neighbor.” – ohn Stott

hese pro!lems mean life or death for countless millions& he% mean much more than what color

the carpet in the chapel is or who will sing in the worship !and& -ut the Christian communit% is

largel% mute on the ma8or issues of the da%&

As a result, od has passed over man% !elievers& he people meeting to discuss issues of

national and international importance are, for the most part, not Christians& #et the% carr% ods !urden for the poor, the unhealth%, the prisoner, the orphan, and the downtrodden& he% are doing

e(actl% what 9esus would do& -ut we are li$e the .evite and the +riest in the stor% of the oodSamaritan& -oth passed !% the d%ing man& -oth apparentl% were too cut up in their religious

worlds to help& : An e(tract from m% !oo$ ChurchShift

his short stor%, is a pream!le into the topic we are going to !e e(amining toda% :'A A+/S;"A.I# A/ #;4< 'hen od created man, he did it with some great intentions in

mind& *an was not supposed to !e 8ust a passer!% on earth engrossed in his dail% survival and

vanities of life& *an was supposed to !e the crown creation& uling and reigning on earth, in the

mode of the creator imself&

*an has !een entrusted with much greatness and glor%, therefore we are not meant to !e 8ust

mere human !eings struggling to ma$e a living ever% da%& *en are supposed to !e the masters of

ta$ing charge of the whole earth for the $ing of $ings& In od)s mind at creation, e sees man as

the ver% crown of creation itself& is picture of man is that, man would reflect is image, thever% essence of od imself&

If od is love then man would manifest that love on the earth& If od is $ind, man would !e an

epitome of that $indness& If od is forgiving, man would !e forgiving& If od is loving andcaring, we would see it in man& If od is understanding, man would !e !oth compassionate and

understanding&

“!las" #uch has been done of late to promote the production of dwarfish Christians. $oor,

sic%ly believers turn the church into a hospital, rather than an army. &h, to have a church

built up with the deep godliness of people who %now the 'ord in their very hearts, and will

see% to follow the 'amb wherever he goes"” – Charles Spurgeon

In the stor% that I started this article with, these powerful individuals at the Clinton lo!al

Initiative, are all people who have paid the price to develop themselves into strong personalities&hat is the main reason wh% the% could ma$e a difference in the world and to a large e(tent, !e

more effective in fulfilling od)s mandate than the church people themselves&

Alas, there is a pro!lem though, men don)t automaticall% !ecome what the% are meant to !e&he% must evolve into it& hat evolving too is not automatic& he process is the same as all processes of maturit%&

1& /ver% individual person must start his process of evolving with a decision& A decision to

ma$e of himself a personalit%, rather than 8ust a mere man&

8/18/2019 What a Personality Are You

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/what-a-personality-are-you 3/9

2& After the decision, comes the wor$, the hard wor$& he hard wor$ of o!serving the

ultimate man which is od himself, manifested in his son 9esus Christ& As we o!serve

him, we see the =ualities of od& he perfection of od, the virtues of the divine&

3& he ne(t step is that we have to come to the realiation that we don)t o!serve od or

Christ simpl% to preach a!out him& ;ur learning and $nowledge a!out divinit% is for a purpose& It must !e for the purpose of !ecoming li$e him& ;ur main wor$ on ourselves is

to actuall% !e transformed into the image of od& >or it is onl% when we are internall%transformed in =ualities and virtues that we could !etter carr% his image&

?& After engraving the nature of od into our spirit and soul, we now !egin the ne(t process

which is learning to function li$e him& >or we are made to !e and act in his li$eness& hatis li$e him, we have to learn to manage the earth li$e he manages the universe& 'e learn

to rule li$e he rules over creation& If we are made in is image, it means carr%ing the

same inner =ualities as im, then !eing in is li$eness would mean to act li$e im&

hese are some of the !asic steps, in the process of a man converting himself from an ordinar%mortal, into a personalit%, that could ma$e a difference in his or her world&

“(e are continuing God)s wor% of forming, filling, and subduing. (henever we bring order

out of chaos, whenever we draw out creative potential, whenever we elaborate and “unfold”

creation beyond where it was when we found it, we are following God)s pattern of creative

cultural development.” * +imothy eller

As we move forward, I would li$e to give %ou m% understating of who a personalit% is& 'hat

differentiates a personalit% from an ordinar% man< I would agree that m% use of the word

personalit% might !e in contrast to how the word is popularl% used toda%& >or the purpose of a

!etter understanding for m% readers@ so as to !e on the same page, let me share with %ou m%understanding of the word A +/S;"A.I#&

A personalit% : his is a person who has a!andoned the mundane lifest%le of mere mortals&

Someone who has gone !e%ond the concerns for his dail% !read and personal survival& Someonewho now lives for something of a higher cause& Someone that wants to ma$e a difference in his

world, environment and generation&

>urthermore, we can descri!e a personalit% as a person or an individual, who has successfull%

formed in himself =ualities that now ma$e him to !e loo$ed upon as a deliverer of some sort&

*ore so, m% use of the word personalit%, is an attempt to put into use a modern voca!ular% todescri!e an old truth& he truth I am see$ing to descri!e through the word personalit% is as old as

the planet itself& Its root could !e traced to the heart of od&

>or it is clear that od does not 8ust want man to !e a vegeta!le, that simpl% e(ists toda% anddisappears tomorrow& is plans are more grandeur than that& he% involve the man managing the

earth for him& So, for an%one of us to full% fulfill the destin% for which we have !een created, we

reall% don)t have a choice than to !ecome a personalit%&

8/18/2019 What a Personality Are You

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/what-a-personality-are-you 4/9

“esus did not die on the cross -ust so we could live comfortable, wellad-usted lives. /is

purpose is far deeper0 /e wants to ma%e us li%e himself before he ta%es us to heaven. +his is

our greatest privilege, our immediate responsibility, and our ultimate destiny.” – 1ic% (arren

It is simple, we simpl% have to line up our lives with od)s understanding a!out us& 'e have to

compl% with is e(pectations& If e sees us as rulers upon the earth, wh% not< .et)s go for it&#ou $now ruling upon the earth in od)s mind is not a!out !ull%ing other human !eings, no In

enesis 17 26, when e as$ed man to rule and manage the earth, e did not include ruling over other men in the list that was given& 'e are made to all rule over the creation, !ut not over each

other&

4nfortunatel% however, since some men are too la% to mature themselves from men to personalities, the% have to !e managed until the% grow to maturit%& his is where the role of

leadership comes in& A true leader, would not ta$e 8o% simpl% in the fact that he rules or

dominates other people& is 8o% and e(citement would !e that he helps other mortals, to come to

a full realiation and fulfillment of who the% are meant to !e&

In the meanwhile, we all have the assignment and challenge to !ecome personalities according to

od& At this 8unction, I feel it might help to give %ou a glimpse of how od originall% intends for

man to loo$ at himself& +salms B7?@B

“(hat is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him2 3or you

have made him a little lower than the angels, and you have crowned him with glory and

honor.4ou have made him to have dominion over the wor%s of your hands5 you have put all

things under his feet, all sheep and o6en7even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and

the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.”

eading through this passage of the scriptures, I am afraid some men have fallen so low that the%don)t even !elieve these things an% longer& >riends, we are all so far from od)s ideals a!out us&

'hereas, what a glowing, !eautiful picture of perfection and dominion, the Almight% has a!outus& .et)s ta$e a closer loo$ at how od ideall% sees man from the a!ove scripture&

WHAT IS MAN THAT YOU ARE MINDFUL OF HIM?

Creation and ma%!e angels, had to as$ this =uestion& -ecause it is alarming that od in all is

ma8est%, would have time to !e mindful of man& -% the wa%, wh% go so far< I guess some men

are as$ing the same =uestion& I !elieve so man% people in our world toda% won)t !elieve this, that od is personall% interested in them&

ello m% dear reader, are %ou reall% aware and assured of the fact that od is personall% mindful

of %ou< So od is mindful of what %ou !ecome& od is mindful if %ou are a success or if %ou

remain 8ust an ordinar% mortal& od is mindful of %our growth& od is mindful of %our development& od is mindful of %our choices&

o %ou thin$ od is as mindful of %ou as that< Are %ou sure %ou trul% !elieve it< Are %ou as

important to od< o %ou thin$ e is mindful of %our calling< oes e reall% care if %ou are

wor$ing in destin% or in vanit%< oes it concern im if %ou come to the fullness of %our capacit%

or not<

.oo$, friends, an%one who is as sure of od)s interest in him personall%, would definitel% wor$ da% and night to !ecome a personalit% that ods would !e proud of&

“(hen we see% /is word above all others, /is encouragement before all others, /is truth

instead of all others, then we will be pleasing to /im more than all others.” – (oodrow rol l

WHAT IS MAN THAT THOU VISITS HIM?

Indeed, od)s honor for man is a!solutel% incomprehensi!le& 'e don)t even honor fellow menli$e that& 'hat a od we serve Can %ou imagine %our president honoring %ou as much as to

come and visit %ou at home< Some of %our !osses would not come and visit %ou at home and in

some cases some of %our +astors would not either& -ut here comes od, so mindful of %ou and

me that e actuall% ta$es is time, to come pa% us a visit on dail% !asis&

>riends, do %ou realie %ou are as important< #ou are so important that od has made a

provision to visit %ou in diverse wa%s on regular !asis& id %ou ever ta$e notice of im coming

to see %ou< ;h %es, e comes to see %ou regularl%& 4nfortunatel%, we are all often too !us% toeven ta$e a notice of im& -ut than$ od, there is such a time as when we cannot !e !us%& As in

when we are sleeping, for that is the onl% time most people ever notice that od comes visiting

them in their dreams and visions&

In actual fact though, od is tr%ing to visit us twent% four hours dail%& hose who are mindful of od, those who care for im, those who trem!le at is presence would tell %ou, it is real to see

od, hear od and fellowship with od on dail% !asis& od see$s to visit us dail%, in our

devotions, in our dail% activities and engagements, in our life situations and circumstances, inour studies, in our growth process, etc&

>riends, od is not !luffing& e is indeed mindful of us& o %ou thin$ e is doing it 8ust for fun<

 "ot reall%, e has a goal& >or od is not chaotic in an%wa%& e does ever%thing with an

intention& And the !ottom line of is thin$ing is to help us !ecome all we are meant to !ecome : A personalit% that can ma$e a difference in his or her world& A personalit% that would emulate

od in all things& A personalit% that would carr% od)s image& A personalit% that would act li$e

im& A personalit% that would rule and manage the earth for the $ing& A personalit% that would

!ring heaven down and cause the principles of the $ingdom of od to !e revealed on the earth&

THOU HAS MADE HIM A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS.

o us men, angels are a !ig deal&Are the% reall%< According to that scripture we read, we might

not !e e(tremel% far from them& It sa%s we are onl% a little lower than the angels& In some other

translations, that actuall% translates to !eing e=ual to angels& #et in some other -i!leinterpretations, it sa%s angels are lower than men, as the case ma% !e& Can %ou !egin to compare

in %our mind the respect and honor %ou have for angels, to that which %ou have for %ourself or

some other men<

8/18/2019 What a Personality Are You

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/what-a-personality-are-you 6/9

I don)t thin$ we nearl% respect ourselves as much as we respect the angels& Sometimes, our low

self@esteem, is such that we don)t even attempt to thin$ we deserve an% form of recognition,

honor or authorit%& -ut od does& his is what ma$es the difference !etween personalities andordinar% men&

“+oday)s church wants to be raptured from responsibility.” – 'eonard 1avenhill

+ersonalities $now who the% are he% $now who od has made them to !e& he% !elieve in

od)s words concerning them, some despite the fact the% are un!elievers& *ost of all, the% !elieve in themselves& he% !elieve in their dignit% and in their roles as the crown of creation&

>riends, if %ou indeed !elieve that %ou are of the class of angels, I am not sure %ou will still !e

afraid of ta$ing charge of %our sphere of influence& #ou cannot !elieve these words and !e

intimidated !% an%thing on the earth& #ou can onl% !elieve that ever%thing is possi!le for %ou&And that means %ou would go for it&

THOU HAST CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR.

'hat an amaing e(position& Come to thin$ of it, the od of the universe, creator of heaven and

earth, decided not 8ust to honor %ou, !ut to enthrone %ou as well as the $ings and rulers upon theearth& In the midst of it all, to prove that %our $ingship is not simpl% ceremonial, e sealed %our

authorit% with is crown& his crown is two faceted, on one hand, it is a crown of lor%, and on

the other hand it is a crown of onor&

lor% is defined as magnificence or great !eaut%, worship, adoration and praise, radiant !eaut%or splendor, heavenl%, the !liss of heaven& A state of great gratification or e(altation&

'hile honor is a source of credit or distinction7 high respect, as for worth, merit, or ran$7 high pu!lic esteem fame glor%7 to hold in honor or high respect to revere&

>riends, come to thin$ of it, all these descriptions are tal$ing a!out #;4 "ow, ere comes the

challenge, how much do %ou !elieve in them< If we could ma$e %ou to !elieve who %ou are inod, there is nothing %ou cannot !e& #ou will easil% rule and reign on the earth& #ou have alread%

!een made so& #ou don)t need to pra% it through, %ou don)t need to fast it through, and %ou don)t

have to confess it through& It)s alread% made for %ou in heaven& +repared for %ou& All that isneeded is for %ou to !elieve and act it out&

“+he most important thought that ever occupied my mind is that of my individual

responsibility to God.” – 8aniel (ebster

+eople who !elieve this truth a!out themselves, are the personalities that are managing andruling our world toda%& It doesn)t matter if the% are Christians or not&

THOU MADE MAN TO HAVE AUTHORITY OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS

8/18/2019 What a Personality Are You

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/what-a-personality-are-you 7/9

od is alwa%s having a grand plan, magnificent ideas& is ideas are alwa%s stri$ing, the% are

monumental in status, the% are ma8estic in comprehension and glorious !e%ond finding out& >or

od to have given man dominion over all the wor$s of is hands, that should tell us something&'e need to respond to is gesture& If e is ma$ing me to !e responsi!le for all the wor$s of is

hands, then as a person and a personalit%, I have the responsi!ilit% !efore od to e(ploit the

whole earth for im&

I must e(plore the air for is glor%& he sea must !e su!dued !% me to please the master& heland and lands must !e cultivated for is pleasure& 4nderneath the earth must !e e(ploited for

his marvelous discoveries& Animals, !irds, must all !e channeled and managed to please the

creator&

“!ll moral obligation resolves itself into the obligation of conformity to the will of God.” –

Charles /odge

-ecause of this, m% understanding of the scripture and the mind of od, I am alwa%s ta$en a!ac$

and em!arrassed !% the $ind of pra%ers, I hear Christians pra%& I am alwa%s ashamed when I hear what churches and church leaders discuss among themselves& 'e are often too preoccupied !%

the mundane things of life such as church !uildings, !udgets, tithes and offerings, praise and

worship teams, =ualit% of music, singers, drummers, preaching, etc&

At a time when od is thin$ing in the scope of managing the whole earth and all its resources&'e are supposed to !e e(ploring ideas on how to ma$e the whole earth function to reveal is

ma8est%& he sea, the land, the air, the !irds, the animals, the s$%, the stars, the moon, the

gala(ies, the space, the cosmos, those are the things we should !e thin$ing a!out e(ploring& hatis where our interest should !e as the representatives of od on earth& 'e should !e deli!erating&

ow can we !ring all these things to come to honor and adore od<

“God has given believers the responsibility of spreading the Gospel to all the world, and we

need to use all at our disposal to accomplish this tas%.” – +heodore 9pp

;ur preoccupation should !e, how all creation could su!mit their glor% to is feet& If we sa% weare people of od, is church, is command center, is head=uarters, then these things must

interest us& id %ou hear what e said< od made man to have dominion over all the wor$s of

is hands that is wh% all of creation must interest us& he e(ploration and the e(ploitation of them to reveal is glor% must !e our priorit%& hat is what personalities do&

-ut when we are merel% mortal men, we pre@occup% ourselves with selfish, egocentric interests

of our immediate realities& *a% od open our e%es, ma% od ma$e us personalities after isown heart&

THOU HAS PUT ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET.

od has put ever%thing under the feet of man& 'henever the -i!le tal$s a!out feet, especiall% in

the ;ld estament, it refers to authorit%, possession and ownership& 'hen "aomi advised uth to

lie at the feet of -oa, it was a s%m!olic act, telling -oa that he now has the ownership of uth&

8/18/2019 What a Personality Are You

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/what-a-personality-are-you 8/9

If od is sa%ing e has put all things under our feet, loo$, we shouldn)t !e as$ing for permission

an% longer to ta$e nations !ac$ for od& 'e should not !e struggling to reclaim our cities,

!ecause the% are alread% given to us& 'e should move into reclaiming ever% sphere of life !ecause the% are alread% under our feet&

Sometimes Christians !ehave as if we needed to fight, do warfare, pra% and struggle oftenwithout success& o !e a!le to do this things, we onl% have to !elieve od and go acting on our

faith& hat is what leads to personalit% formation&

/ver%thing is put under %our feet !rethren& emem!er the stor% when *oses saw the !urning

!ush< e was instructed to remove his shoes from his feet !ecause the land he stood on was a

hol% ground&

As a 9ewish man, *oses $new the implication of that lesson& It was a wa% of letting him $nowthat the owner of the earth, the land owner was standing right !efore him, so he had to su!mit or

give up on his own rights to ownership& hat is what should happen when we arrive in territories,

cities, countries, spheres of life& 'e are the true authorit%, under whose feet the earth has !eengiven&

he all temporar% owners, that are occup%ing cities, nations and spheres of influence, must

vacate their ownership rights& All tenants must give wa% to the landlords& his the% must do with

honor& emem!er that what *oses was instructed to do was to remove his shoes !ecause shoesin ancient Israel stood for a sign of ownership& ;nl% slave owners wore shoes& And onl% land

owners wal$ in sandals and shoes upon the land& So when a higher authorit% came, *oses had to

remove his shoes to honor the real owner& hat is wh% in Israel, when %ou go visit other people)shouses, %ou have to remove %our shoes at the door !efore %ou enter, there!% recogniing the

authorit% of the house %ou are in, %ou are not the owner there, so %ou have to remove %our shoes&

hat is what should happen wherever we go to on earth, people should remove their shoes&-ecause we come with faith, confidence and with the $nowledge of who we are in od& 'e are personalities&

'hen 9esus attempted to wash the feet of is disciples, the% refused to let im, !ecause

normall% it is the slaves that wash the feet of the master& -ecause slaves didn)t wear shoes

themselves& he% were owned, the% were possessed& So !% s%m!olicall% washing the feet of thedisciples, the master himself was releasing them to go possess the earth for him& So we don)t

have an% option m% friends, we must go to the end of the earth, reclaiming and possessing the

whole earth for od&

“!ll sheep and o6en7even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the seathat pass through the paths of the seas.” $salms :0 ; :
