BLOCK ASSEMBLY PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH THEM TOGETHER ALONG THE 5” LENGTH. AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2” WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

BORDER ASSEMBLY MEASURE WIDTH AND LENGTH OF THE QUILT TOP TO ENSURE BORDER SIZES, BELOW ARE OUR CUTTING SIZES.

(1) 16-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (4) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(3) 16-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (10) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(4) 8-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (8) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(1) 8-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (1) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strip.(8) 3-1/2” x WOF strips.*

(9) 2-1/2” x WOF strips, BINDING.

(2) 16-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (8) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(5) 8-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (10) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(1) 16-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (4) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(20) 4-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (180) 4-1/2” squares.

FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

Blocks1. Place (1) H 4-1/2” square on the top left corner of (1) A 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strip, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the small square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle 1/4” away from the sewn seam.

make 42. Follow figure for the seam direction to add an H 4-1/2” square to each of the remaining corners of the A 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strip to make (1) A-Block.

3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to make (4) A-Blocks total.

4. Repeat Steps 1-2 using the remaining 4-1/2” H squares and the remaining (41) 8-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips to make the following blocks: (8) B-Blocks; (10) C-Blocks; (10) D-Blocks; (8) E-Blocks; (4) F-Blocks and (1) G-Block.

Quilt Assembly5. Sew (9) assorted blocks together lengthwise to make (1) row. Repeat to make (5) rows total.

6. Sew the (5) rows together to make the quilt top.

7. Sew (1) G 3-1/2” x (80-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) G 3-1/2” x (78-1/2”) strips to the top and bottom of quilt top.
