• In 2005 a large haul road was constructed that resulted in loss of wetlands.

• To compensate for those losses, new wetlands were created.

• An artificial channel was created to connect upper and lower Bear Creek, bypassing an old weir dam that had isolated the stream sections.

• The area behind the weir was filled to create a new wetland habitat.

• Good survival and growth of planted tree and shrub sprigs continued in 2008.

• Site will continued to be monitored in the future.• Hydrologic changes have resulted in some

bypass of spring water to the wetland.• Engineers will evaluate potential modifications to

the existing flow paths to the wetland.• Further management may be required to insure

adequate hydrology and to control invasive plants.
