GENERAL 1. All entries must be made online, and be accompanied by the appropriate remittance for the

classes entered.

2. The Westmorland County Agricultural Society privacy policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, that you provide to us or that we may receive from others about you will be processed by us. It includes data that we hold electronically and in paper files. Names, limited address particulars and details of entries may be published in the catalogue of entries and passed to our printers, solely for the purpose of compiling the catalogue. Results information may be published (in printed form and online) and provided to the Press and Breed Societies for publication. Information relating to Exhibitors and their animals may be provided to DEFRA, Trading Standards, Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS), SAC, Breed Societies, County Councils, Veterinary Advisors and others who have regulatory access. Please refer to www.westmorlandshow.co.uk for full details of our Privacy Policy.

Light Horse Section

Entry Fee: All entries £15 unless otherwise stated

Entries must be made online – www.westmorlandshow.co.uk

No late entries – entries received after 4 September 2020 will not be accepted. This rule will be strictly enforced. Please help and send your entry early. No refunds will be given following close of entries.

No substitutions allowed.

There are NO OVERNIGHT parking facilities on the Showground. COVID-19 Conditions of Entry

Social distancing must be maintained at all times

Arrival permitted 1 hour before start of your first class

You must leave site within 15 minutes of completing your final class

No spectators or members of the general public permitted

Email address, mobile number and any vehicle registrations that will be attending the Show must be provided (including clients cars). Only pre-registered vehicles will be permitted entry to the event.

A timetable will be produced once the entries are closed – there will be specific times for each class and very specific working-in times. This will be available Wednesday 9 September 2020. If more than 5 entries in a class, the class will be split into sections

Maximum 3 people per horse/pony permitted - a register of attendees will be maintained to support the Track and Trace system

WORKING HUNTER COLLECTING RING – 5 at a time. There will be one person putting up/down for you. NO ONE ELSE ALLOWED IN THE COLLECTING RING

Mobile catering van on site – no gatherings around this area

PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: This applies to all ridden competitions, jumping, demonstrations,

practice, collecting areas and whilst exercising. All riders of horses or ponies on the Showground or exercise areas are required to wear correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hats which conforms to the following standards for head protection for equestrian activities: All PAS 015; VG1; (BS)EN1384 2017; ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2016; AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards; Skullcaps must be of, or worn with, a dark coloured plain peaked cover. Refer to your Society/Association Rule Book for further clarification.

For the health and safety of all exhibitors, horses must not be tied to the side of Horse Boxes. No Dogs or Pushchairs in Horse Walkways.

EQUINE WELFARE is of paramount importance and all riders should be of an appropriate size

and weight for the horse/pony being ridden anywhere on the showground, exercise areas or vehicle parks, the Society reserves the right to take further action against any competitor whose size or weight compromises the welfare of the horse/pony being ridden; this would be based on the recommendations of the on-site Animal Welfare Officer.

Equine Influenza Policy Horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose.

Horses must have been vaccinated within 12 months before the show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show.

Foals In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.

We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians.

Please note that neither vaccination certificates nor passports should be sent to the show office prior to the event. However, random checks will be carried out on the showground during the show.

SHOW PONY/HUNTER SECTION Judging/ General Conditions These classes are open to non-BSPS members, however, this show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS, are subject to the constitution and rules of the BSPS, including their disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. BSPS Registered Number is BSPS 12/20. A copy of the constitution and rules is available upon request at the Stewards marquee on Show Day.

Lead rein classes must be shown in SNAFFLE BRIDLES only and the attendant MUST FIX THE LEAD REIN TO THE NOSEBAND. First ridden ponies must be shown in SNAFFLE BRIDLES only.

BSPS - This Show is a qualifier for the 2021 BSPS Championships and the 1st & 2nd prize winners in classes 1 and 2 and 1st , 2nd, 3rd f rom class 8 & 1st ,2nd, 3rd & 4th from Classes 4 & 7 qualify in accordance with the BSPS rule 21. 1st prize winners from classes 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 will qualify for The BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions. Also a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Services Group Challenge and Black Country Saddles Best Rider. The Best Rider in each of the following Open classes at all BSPS Affiliated Shows will be awarded a Best Rider Card & qualify for the final at the Summer Championships Show: Lead Rein, First Ridden, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Show Pony, SH Pony & WH Pony classes.

UK Ponies & Horses Limited - The Society is affiliated to UK Ponies & Horses Limited for the 2020 Season – Affiliation number 21/A18/8291 . All qualifiers subject to confirmation by UK Ponies & Horses Limited. This Show is a qualifier for the UK Ponies & Horses Limited Spring Classic 2021, Equifest 2021 & BSPA 2021. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each qualifying class will qualify. No Membership required in order to compete in the final. Competitors should refer to UK Ponies & Horses Limited for Rules & Regulations. SECTION A – Fell Ponies

If there are insufficient entries in classes 23 and 24, the Society reserves the right to amalgamate them

Class 25 Registered Fell Pony, four years old and upwards to be brought into the ring mounted. Judging will be based on 50% for conformation and 50% for ride and manners.

SECTION B – Shetland Ponies (Held under SPSBS Rules)

Height limit: Four years old and over must not exceed 42 inches. Three year old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on Show day. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. In-hand stallions aged 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge. There must be no colts or stallions in Young Handlers classes. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or stallions in In-hand classes. Children under 12 yrs old (on the day of the show) may not show stallions in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 yrs or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. In ridden classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, & takes no further part.

Classes 48 – 56 are held under the rules of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. The 2020 SHB (GB) Rule Book is available at the Stewards’ marquee or downloaded from SHB(GB) www.sporthorsegb.co.uk. Please note the SHB(GB) rules relating to attire for grooms – It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure that grooms entering the Show Ring are smartly and professionally turned out. Grooms must wear a hat when in the ring, if not they will be asked to leave the ring.

This Society is affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association. Classes 60 - 67 will be judged under BSPA rules, download from www.bspaonline.com. Rider age is taken as 1

st Jan. Membership of BSPA is not a requirement. For

classes 60 – 67 all stallions must be graded and licensed by BSPA and have a BSPA stallion ID card which must be carried at all times and produced on request. All stallions must wear a BSPA Stallion Disc. No rider under 14 yrs may exhibit a stallion in any class.

Classes 64 - 67 are qualifiers for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OF COLOUR National Champion of Champions 2021, to be held at College Equestrian

Centre, Keysoe, Bedfordshire in September, provided owners/handlers/riders are members of BSPA and Horses/Ponies are registered with BSPA prior to the Show, membership & qualification cards to be shown in the ring and signed at the time of qualification. However membership is not a requirement for entry into these classes. Non-members will not qualify. Classes 64 - 67 – 1

BSPS - This Show is a qualifier for the 2021 BSPS Championship Show at Arena U.K. and the 1st and 2nd prize winners only in classes 76, 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class 75 and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in classes 81 qualify in accordance with the BSPS rules 21 and 26. Also a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Services Group Challenge & Black Country Saddles Best Rider. 1st prize winners in classes 74 - 76 and 81 will qualify for the BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions. The Best Rider in each of the following Open classes at all BSPS Affiliated Shows will be awarded a Best Rider Card and qualify for the final at the Summer Championships Show: Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Open Working Hunter Ponies and Open Heritage Working Hunter Ponies.

UK Ponies & Horses Limited - The Society is affiliated to UK Ponies & Horses Limited for the 2020 Season – Affiliation number 21/A18/8291 . All qualifiers subject to confirmation by UK Ponies & Horses Limited.

Conditions of Competition 1. The Exhibitor must in all cases be the owner of the animal shown (see Rule 23).

2. Entries will close on Friday 4 September 2020. No late entries will be accepted.

3. In order to discourage frivolous protests, every protest must be made in writing and sent to the Secretary within seven clear days after the date of the Show, and to be accompanied by a deposit of £50 to be returned, or retained, by the vote of the Committee, on consideration as to whether there was reasonable ground or not for the protest.

7. The Conditions attached to any Premium are applicable to all animals gaining a prize of whatever denomination.

8. If only one entry is received in any section, this section may be withdrawn. The entrant will be notified and the entry fee returned.

9. All exhibitors will be subject to the orders of the Society’s officials. Abuse, physical or verbal, towards stewards and staff will not be tolerated and exhibitors or their assistants not obeying the directions of the Society’s officers will render themselves liable to expulsion from the Showground.

10. In the event of what is considered by the Management Committee to be a serious contravention of the Rules, not apparent within the 7-day period under condition 6, the 7-day period need not apply.

11. A Disciplinary Committee consisting of the Referee, Chairman, Chief Executive and appropriate Chief Steward is empowered to represent the Society on matters relating to the Show on Show day and their decision shall be binding.

12. All persons entering an animal in a class covered by a Breed Society shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the relevant Breed Society and be subject to it’s Rules and disciplinary procedures including exclusion from exhibiting.

stock and the management and cultivation of farms has for its objects the promotion of the interests of Agriculture in general and to combine and foster the interests of town and country

13. All conditions of competition framed by the Committee shall be as binding as these Rules, providing the same be in no way at variance therewith.

30. Any member knowingly making any false entry, or otherwise attempting to impose on the Society, shall not be allowed to continue as a member.
