Western Ohio Summer Cluster COVID-19 Operating Guidelines
The Western Ohio Summer Cluster (WOOS) Organizers will work with state and local governments and public health authorities prior to the start of the our cluster to determine risks and mitigation measures. On Site Process and Procedures WOSC shall require temperature monitoring for volunteers, officials, exhibitors, and service providers once daily prior to entering the show grounds. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to enter the grounds. Everyone entering show grounds will be required to wear a mask. Signage to this effect will be posted at the entrance and throughout the grounds. The following individuals will not be permitted on the show grounds:
· An individual who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms, · An individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 within last two weeks, or · An individual who has been in contact with someone who has tested positive
for COVID-19 within the last two weeks. THE WOSC will post signage that displays all applicable federal, state and local regula-tions, requirements and orders as well as WHO recommendations and CDC guidelines as they relate to mass gatherings and sporting events in effect at the show. Signage will be posted at all entrances to the show grounds which identifies the symp-toms of COVID-19 and states the following:
· To protect others from possible transmission of the virus, anyone who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks (exception, healthcare person-nel who have treated patients using appropriate medical-grade PPE during the course of performing professional duties), cannot enter the show grounds. These individuals are encouraged to contact their health care provider imme-diately for further medical advice and must obtain documented clearance from their health care provider before entering the show grounds. Participants must assume responsibility for themselves and their own staff (e.g. assistants, etc.).
· Recommendations about good hygiene along with informing participants and others about ways to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Social Distancing & Limiting Entries The WOSC shall enforce social distancing requirements throughout the show grounds at all times.
· Prohibit the public, spectators, and non-essential personnel such as guests from being on the show grounds. Non-participants may watch from the hillside with proper distance between spectators, but will not be allowed inside the show area.
· Organize dog and exhibitor arrivals and departures to limit contact between people, (e.g. show time is 10am, must leave the area immediately after you show and cannot return unless you have another dog to show in another time slot)
6 Western Ohio Summer Cluster - October 2-4, 2020
• Arrange judges’ and other officials’ areas to comply with social distancing requirements.
• Restrict show office and judges area access to essential personnel only. Limited entry will
be considered if necessary.
• There will be no extra activities (raffles, temperament tests, Bar B Q)
• Regardless of the scope of the limitation, the limiting of entries must be done on a first
come, first served basis and relevant information will be posted on the Superintendent’s web-site. Configure grooming to comply with social distancing requirements.
Enforcement Authority Stewards , Club members and AKC officials will inform individuals when they are not in compli-ance with the regulations and requirements in effect at the show and shall report such situations to the Club Officials and AKC. The WOSC has the authority to remove from the facility any person who does not comply with the regulations and requirements in effect. If an individual needs an accommodation under the American Disabilities Act, request should be submitted, along with documentation of the disability and need for accommodation, to Nina Fetter, Executive Dog Shows. Requests for accommodations will be reviewed on a confidential basis with a medical consultant. Participants are required to comply with these and any additional Show Organizer requirements at all times while present on show grounds. Failure to do so may result in expulsion from the grounds. These requirements are in effect immediately and until further notice, however, they are subject to revisions as the COVID-19 environment changes. Recommended Best Practices for WOSC The following Recommended Best Practices have been provided to assist Show Organizers with determining risks and developing measures to mitigate those risks:
• Limit the number of entrances and exits to the show area to manage the number of
Individuals accessing the show grounds. All entrances and exits must be manned to limit access. Communication – Use radio, cell phone communication methods as much as possible and communicate important information frequently throughout the show grounds.
Considerations for Club Members, Medical Personnel, Service Providers & Volunteers • Cleaning/Sanitizing Locations
Provide hand sanitization stations with access to soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer at several areas through the grounds.
• Provide hand sanitizer to all officials, ring crew, clean up and medical officials.
Ensure frequent cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms, provide soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer in bathrooms. Ring Procedure
• All dogs enter on one side of the ring and exit on the other side
• Dogs will stand in the designated lines, when the judge is doing each exhibit and examine
the dog, the exhibitor and dog will move up to the next line and do their individual movement and return to the end of the line. The judge will point to the dog for its placement while standing in the lines (spaced 6 feet away from the other dogs). Provide markers to delineate 6 feet spacing between people in any waiting lines (e.g., markers on floor).

Trick Dog, CGC, & CGCA Tests Each Afternoon
The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizens Program is a two part program that is designed to (1) teach responsible dog ownership to owners and (2) certify dogs that have the training & demeanor to be reliable, well-behaved members of their families and communities. The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen Program is to ensure that our favorite companion, the dog, can be respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. The Canine Good Citizen Test of your dog’s manners and training is not a competition and does not require the owner/handlers and dog to perform with precision. Handlers may talk to their dogs throughout the test but cannot offer food or a toy. The Canine Good Citizen Test is open to purebred dogs – both registered and unregistered that are 6 months old or older. At check-in, the owner or handler must present a current rabies certificate. A rabies tag is not sufficient proof of rabies vaccination. All tests must be performed on-leash. Dogs should wear well-fitted buckle or slip collars made of either leather, fabric or chain. Special training collars or devices (e.g. pinch collars or “head halters”) are not permitted. The leash should be made of leather or fabric. Dogs must be healthy, in good condition and clean to pass the test. A dog whose appearance has been noticeably affected by a medical condition may pass the test, provided at check-in, the owner presents a letter of explanation and release from the dog’s veterinarian.
The dog must pass each of the following 10 test categories: 1. Accepting a friendly stranger 6. Sit and down on command, and stay in place 2. Sitting politely for petting 7. Come when called 3. Appearance and grooming 8. Reaction to another dog 4. Walking on loose leash 9. Reactions to visual and auditory distractions 5. Walking through a crowd 10. Supervised separation =========================================================================
