Western National ParksSeptember 15 - 23, 2018Day 1Arrive in Denver by noon, then tour Denver and Golden, Colorado on your way to the Rocky Mountain Foothills. This evening is on your own to explore the historic town of Estes Park.

Day 2Today we are “heading for the hills” or perhaps we should say mountains. We will travel over the awesome Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved highway in North America. Along with fantastic mountain scenery, we will try to spot elk, big horn sheep and moose that call this park home. After a lunch stop on your own in Grand Lake, we proceed through more mountains to Glenwood Canyon. This highway is on the National Register of Civil Engineering Landmarks with scenery that has been labeled ‘the most scenic section’ on our interstate highway system. At the end of the canyon is Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s largest outdoor hot spring pool- a great place to spend the evening. Meal included: breakfast

Day 3Our day begins with the sun hitting the 14,000 foot summits of Maroon Bells. These peaks are one of the most photographed sights in the US. We will follow the Colorado River to our lunch stop, in Grand Junction, Colorado, in the heart of Colorado’s wine country. Crossing into Utah, we will take the road less traveled through the Colorado River Canyon and many photo stops along the way to Moab. Tonight we have a Dutch Oven dinner before we travel back up river in a barge to see the widely acclaimed Canyonlands by Night, a light and sound show. The next two nights are in Moab. Meals included: breakfast, dinner

Day 4Arches National Park is our first stop this morning. A wonder of nature, you will have time for a short hike to one of the red rock arches. We will have lunch and a jet boat ride down the Colorado River this afternoon before an evening on your own to explore Moab. It might be a great time for a dip in the hotel pool. Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 5Experience breathtaking scenery today as we continue along the roads less traveled to Goblin Valley State Park, Escalante/Grand Staircase National Park, Anazasi State Park, and on to Bryce Canyon National Park. We will picnic in Capitol Reef National Park along the way. We spend the night at Bryce, Utah. Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 6Early this morning you can opt for a helicopter ride over Bryce Canyon before we head out for our tour of this amazing National Park. After a lunch stop on your own, we will continue to Zion National Park and the town of Springdale, Utah where we will spend the next two nights. Evening is on your own to enjoy this beautiful area. Meal included: breakfast

Day 7Today we will visit one of the natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. Considered “the quiet rim,” you’ll have time to walk along the North Rim and see the breathtaking beauty at the overlooks. Enjoy lunch on your own taking in the view. Then we head for Zion, Utah with stops along the way. Evening is on your own. Meal included: breakfast

Day 8Leaving Southern Utah, we head south toward our last night in Las Vegas, Nevada. You will have the evening free to enjoy the sights and sounds of Vegas and the strip. Meal included: breakfast

Day 9Your Tour Director will let you know your departure time on your complimentary shuttle (until 1 PM) to the airport as you head for home. Meal included: breakfast
