Situation

•Needs of building ‘WKCD’

- Local arts and cultural sector remains vibrant and pluralistic despite economic ups and downs

- Acute shortage of performing arts venues

- Inadequacies of exhibition space for display of local artworks, art education, art fairs, auctions and exhibitions relating to creative industries

- No new public performance venue built since 2000

How to maintain the balance between economy, society and environment?

1. Society

- to meet our needs, without damaging the prospects of future generation

- increasing total space provision of existing public museums by 52%

- Space reserved for other arts and cultural uses:

– Resident companies – Meeting rooms and common facilities for artists and arts groups – Arts education venues – Arts and cultural information centre, space for meetings/functions/events etc – Space for international arts and cultural organizations

2. Economy

- To increase prosperity and improve the quality of life

- it will create many job vacants- construction labour, professionals,administrators etc.

- attract people flow and tourists

- with neighbouring areas to cultivate appropriate ambience

3. Environment

Pros- To reduce the environment burden we put on our neighhours and to help to preserve common services
